This isn't just a PVP game people, it's PVPVE.

  • @paul-endri

Like I said, I play both PvE and PvP and do not want it removed.
But you have to see that the balance just isn't there. People who come to PvP have nothing holding them back, there is nothing punishing them. Even if they die and get sunk, they can sail back and try again(Whilst doing what they set out to do PvP).

PvE players get pulled away from what they are doing, and on top of that are very likely going to get punished for it(losing their treasure). Because lets be frank, people who aim for PvP will more often then not be better at it.

  • @rooby-dooby-dew About that sailor code... No Captain's I can't abide by that, not saying it must be me just that 4 people working towards a singular goal is easier with task management. One voice to steer all to me is more productive and fun.
When I was young I worked in kitchens and thought I would hate having orders yelled at me. After realizing that good work was recognized and thet gave your words weight, I realized it was a tightly run system built upon respect and I loved it.
So dev's can ban me but I can't respect a pirate code that won't allow me to play how I want to. There will be order on my ship's or I'm not interested in playing.

  • @senilegold Wait what the heck are you talking about? lolz of course you can be bossy if you are the captain. I'm confused sorry, care to explain what you are responding to?

  • @rooby-dooby-dew You said follow the pirate code, if you read that it specifically calls for no captain's.
Upon reading that I disregarded all of it.
    Consider me a Privateer

  • @rooby-dooby-dew actually, that's merely speculatory. I have never been in pvp unless I was seeking it. If I'm not willing to engage, I evade, and long before I feel threatened. Keep you eyes about you and scan the horizon. I have ditched chests in a concealed location, and sailed off to draw query when shored. I have distracted assailers, and delivered chests through distraction(even solo)... Several times, combinations of all the aforementioned... SoT is GREAT!

  • @sergent-c****r savage, you need to record that!

  • i played mostly PVE with a few encounters here and there some times we would see a ship that looked like it might engage and we both just kept going. when we did get in fights we mostly outmaneuvered the enemy, and out gunned a few times and in one instance where they set up an ambush as we went to drop off a chest, we properly tricked them. swinging the ship in for a near ram and then sailing it out into water shooting our selves out the cannons onto shore as they chased an empty ship out to sea. dude thought he was so clever. was ROFL the entire time. XD

  • @senilegold oh pfffft screw that!

  • @soliloquist45 been there, done that... The effectiveness has since been mitigated.
On that side tho, I have mercilessly hunted the waves when bored of diggin' riddles. Spawning a sunken crew on a nearby island puts them right in sights for the assailers, and I have sunk a crew repeatedly solely because of proximity. PvP spawns absolutely need changing, and I'm pretty sure that will change. I have previously stated defeated crews should spawn as far away as can be enabled, but if your crew just lost chests in such an encounter, you should be given at least some chance of retributive recovery... How to balance that with total domination and trolling purely for disparity? Maybe one nearby spawn, but if you fail again, spawn as far away as possible?...

  • @rooby-dooby-dew Well... Parlay with me on luanch and see if it's a PVE game.
JK, I actually enjoy PVP much more when I have loot after playing PVE. Endless naval combat only gets me so far but defeating a ship who saw me as prey until the server leaves me be to PVE is more fun.

  • @senilegold I love going into combat with booty! I place my treasure at the bow so they can see ;)

  • @rooby-dooby-dew I would recommend using the masts to at least stop me from dropping i the ocean but that sounds fun, 1 chest not all.

  • @ryz-argos yeah. Respawn system has gotta change and I'd be surprised if Rare didn't change it. It's almost unanimously disliked at the moment.

Well said, this is the key weak spot in Rare's vision. Those that keep pointing to the Pirate Code don't seem to realize that it isn't enforceable and therefor will be ignored. Even worse I suppose is that some players will hold it in high regard while others ignore it. Players that wish to focus on PvP have a distinct advantage over those that are less aggressive or PvE oriented. It is not a balanced system. Favoring any play style in a game design is not a successful business strategy, it gets old real fast and players vote with their feet so to speak.

Yup! When the game releases I’m going to put as many kegs on my ship as possible and nuke someone hahahaha!

the damage doesn't stack, you'd have to stagger the detonations

    It would still look cool!

  • @sergent-c****r blow em up!

  • @rooby-dooby-dew

Every PvP player I've watched on stream also do the voyages. They take every ship battle they can because they can be few and far between, but they also do the voice.

These are the people who play the game as intended.

  • @casesugar401098 Post isn't about dislike for PVP, post is meant for those ganging up against the idea of PVE. I'm merely pointing out the game is PVPVE. You know the risks when you set sail from other players, and you also know that there are people doing PVE. The idea that it should be one or the other is what I find annoying and if people can't get used to PVPVE then idk how the seas will fare down from now.

  • Exactly so stop trying to ruin PVP or making posts about how you want PVP to be taken out the game. The game has a fair balance of both. Deal with it.

  • @jamiethe1egend Where in this post do I want PVP taken out or ruined? Do you just stalk the forums about any pvp thread and jump to the bottom before reviewing? I think it's agreed upon that the game doesn't have PVP issue, it's the respawn mechanic we saw in the scale test. It's also not fair to PVP players that we can respawn and continue to attack them while they get the booty.

  • @rooby-dooby-dew Did I @ you? I was talking about people in general.

  • @jamiethe1egend Oh okay, well heck if there's no @ I assume it's toward OP (ME :D). I think the game will be better at launch. Respawn system has to have been changed.. right?

  • @rooby-dooby-dew Agreed. I think the game's mechanics arent the best but not as bad as people make it out to be, but I feel like they will tweak it a bit.

The people who are upset about the PvE players are so because they won't fight. They just scuttle their ship. When ships are few and far between it really sucks when every one you encounter just scuttles.

  • @casesugar401098 oooh yeah I get ya. I'm sure after launch they will have an algorithm that makes it so there are plenty on da sea! Scuttling is important though, especially if you've been the victim of the same ship several times and ya sorta tired/annoyed of it. I haven't had to scuttle, but we did have one person scuttle their ship when our galleon approached. We continued on our voyage. Pvp, for me, is more of a bonus while I'm adventuring the world
