Was it not oranges that fought off scurvy? hehehe ;P
So here is a silly question why bananas and not oranges?
@Raphaela69 maybe they'll add that as a second game mechanic, although it makes sense what you're saying ahaha
@thewolfman321 I hope that maybe they maybe have oranges in game don't want to be catching the scurvy aaarg!
@raphaela69 Pretty sure a banana would work to fight off scurvy as well.
Also I don't think that Bananas will be the only food/fruit in the game...
Pretty old tweet from June...
I believe it started out with apples. They changed it but kept the "crunch" audio.
That's why SoT bananas have that wonderful crunch to them! lol
@canadianmuscle3 @Retto-Elbaroda why not papples, Pitmaston Pineapple Apples, lol =)
they look like an apple but taste like a pineapple! When potassium comes into contact with water an intense chemical reaction takes place. This was actually a method commonly used by pirates but for some reason largely undocumented, most likely in order to hide the fact that most of the ocean is actually disintegrated pirate meat.
They'd eat aboute 450-500 bananas a day, and of they ever found them in a situation where capture (and most likely torture or servitude) was inevitable, they'd just jump in the ocean and explode. The lack of remains would also prevent the attraction of sharks.
Someone said on some thread that they thought it would be cool if when you grabbed from the food box it would give you a random food. I think they asked for meat haha. If the food isn't going to do anything new I like this idea. I do think there may be poison in this game seems like datamine brought that up on the kracken. So either have diff food does diff stuff or lets get the random food thing. Then it can be anything at all and they don't have to be in different barrels haha.

I am like 99.99% certain this is true.
@inbred-chimera for heaven's sake! That's why my mate insists each time to go to an outpost when he needs a bathroom... one never stops learning!

Your 0.01% funcertainty disheartened me.
@raphaela69 There has been a great many people request Fishing also, And in my eyes, in a sea based game, fish would be the most common option for food...
@raphaela69 Bananas are still a good source for the right vitamins a pirate needs... besides that we have seen in the stores that a few other fruits have made it into the game, we just can't eat them yet... plus with all the pigs and chickens added recently I am sure it won't be long before we get a hot meal too!
@acedseth may not make the finished game. The beta file is not the same as what full release will be. Two different downloads.
