I find it a bit difficult to board other players' ships to steal treasure. What do you guys think about sinking a ship that is carrying treasure for the chests to float to the surface after the ship has been sunk? It's a bit of a shame to sink ships just to sink them, especially if it was a hard fought victory. I feel as if a small reward in the form of floating chests or resources would be adequate.
Sinking ships with loot
When a ship sinks, those chests start floating towards the surface as soon as the shipmodel despawns. They float for a while and after a few minutes they start sinking again.
Usually, after sinking a ship, we just guard our ladders and slowly sail our ship towards the floating chests. Swimming too far could be a problem because there are usually lots of sharks.

@explosiveboby Is it really? I never noticed. Thank you for clearing that up for me!
I too said the same thing when I first arrived here, don't fear scurvy sea dog! Ha-haar!
@maxamas2003 i think @Stevieo526 is right here. usually they should despawn when they sunk... but i am not sure under what circumstances those chests sometimes bug out :/
You can usually just pay attention to the area that the mermaid pops up once the ship sinks, as that is near where the loot will rise up. I usually park the ship, then hop in the water to watch the ship finish sinking so I can see quickly if anything starts to float once it despawns (also helps spot anyone who respawned on the ship before it disappears)
