Gameplay is fun but content is lacking

  • @achaboot said in Gameplay is fun but content is lacking:

@grievous32 The game launches in what? a month and a half? they didnt show off any new improvements. map size. objectives... seems like if they had more to show they would let us beta test it for bugs before release... chances are THIS is the completed game

I hope you're not really serious... No one have tested God of War so what...? There's just a cinematic ?

  • @grievous32 Why are you trying to compare the two games in different stages of completion? One is a multiplayer focused game on a larger map, the other is a single player experience. You should be more wary of betas... Besides. GoW is probably tested IN HOUSE. Not publicly at $60 entry fee

Oh because we can test some little things in the beta, Rare doesn't test in house ?

They said a lot of time they keep some features for the release... Just sayin'...

  • If 60 bucks is to much for you then um dont buy it.
    Fixed it for ya.

  • The Beta and Alpha were just there to allow us to test and report bugs to help them. They have much more content that awaits.

  • People always react like they have to decide now to buy it or not.

While it is fine, to state that the content in the beta was somewhat lacking for a 70€ game (yes, it costs that much in the windows store), nobody forces you to get it now.

Wait for release, wait for what the press says, wait for what streamers that might get press copies show you.
Download codes will not be sold out on the first day.

  • @p5r3v1l that's what i was saying. the beta itself isn't fleshed out. they promise they are holding back and this map isn't even the actual map, "just a portion of it." It's just an observation and opinion. Ah well. I had fun in the beta just wish they add more if they demand $60 for it.

  • @misterdoomed Thanks bro. That's a super helpful comment. Will keep it in mind next time I'm on the toilet.

  • @balbasuar Yeah that's what they said too. I just found it weird that the whole beta was lacking depth. If they had other content why wouldn't they let us test em? its just an observation but we will see what happens at release. i really hope it lives to the hype because the beta was so gorgeous

  • @grievous32 Ok, i was making an observation based on my experiences in the beta. If you don't share them that is fine but you haven't contributed anything to counter the argument other than "faith" in the company.

How about watching a Dev videos on 'Progression'?

  • @achaboot You are right and here's the reason why.

I've heard some wild tales about 2 man taking down 4 man ships, and with a really terrible crew i'm sure anything is possible.

But once you understand how durable a Galleon is you realize this there is almost no stopping it with a good crew on board.

We were sailing 4 man on voice with several crying chests and other goodies, another Galleon spotted us and took up the fight. We had only 30 planks on board, but with constant fire to the lower deck 2-3 holes at a time we had 3 people repairing and running with water and one man on the wheel. The water reached the mid deck but we still managed to move it out of the ship while one man repaired.

Our barrels were empty by the time we reached the outpost, but we also managed to sail across the map under fire and turn in all the chest before anyone could get to our ship.

So you see for a 2 man ship to sink a galleon with a good crew is not possible, even if they had both man firing and hitting the lower deck with each shot they would still not sink it or move their ship either.

So in reality nothing can sink a well crewed Galleon, not even another Galleon, unless they hit with all their cannons on the lower deck 3-4 times in a row with no interval.

This needs to change, there needs to be a risk factor for Galleons as well otherwise everyone will match up in 4 like they did in beta.

I play the game since 1st April, I have experience too. But I also know the differences between a finished game and a beta. You forget this is not the final product. In the release note there's always something saying it's a session to test mechanics of gameplay or other things in an environment for tests. So we don't have everything and we don't even have the final environment.

  • @stem589 I've seen these. Read a bit on the future of the game. They don't say much. the beta was fun but it does feel empty. Anyway it was an observation on the beta with my hopes they expand the full game

  • @achaboot

I think you can see a lot in the Dev videos that weren't in the Beta to know it wasn't the finished product, is all I'm saying.

  • @grievous32 Why are you so defensive? I made an observation dude. Re-read my post and chill out. Don't need you "white knighting" this game. Typically people appreciate idea (even if mine weren't good) constructive criticism goes a long way

  • @achaboot You do realize that there is still an NDA in effect over details of the game? kinda hard to have an NDA if you've already released all the content of the game publicly...

  • @claus1978 you can sink a galleon almost instantly with two barrels. You have to choose when to attack, going toe to toe with a galleon fully ready for battle in a sloop is risky, but attacking a galleon that is seeking treasure is an entirely different story.

  • @kruqnut Derp. it still exists for the alpha testers but beta wasn't protected as NDA. thanks for pointing out the obvious... Devs/microsoft (idk who specifically) are the one implementing the NDA, if they want to share the info they can, and they will in 2 weeks allegedly. so chill

  • @achaboot maybe you should chill, there's many videos of the devs showing clearly fleshed out features and content that wasn't in the beta. They have said that this stuff is ready and the beta was intentionally stripped for content to test specific elements and for server testing.

Yet you continue to behave as if the beta is the entire game, and everything else is just empty dev promises. This isn't EA just trying to recycle s**t and throw microtransactions at you.

  • @achaboot It's astonishing to me how much I see people post around the net that the game is empty because all you do is dig up treasures. That's only a part of what you do in the final game...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB9hJNfMa5M

  • I admit even with the extra features I could see content being a little lacking, but its all how you approach it, when you combine the voyages, with enemy pirates, and random disasters etc, it all comes together as a bigger much more dynamic and evolving piece of content than just one features sounds like by itself.

Rare has seemingly struck an awesome balance in this game. I can only see minor tweaks in the future needing to be done, not these dramatic design changes inexperienced scaliwags suggest before they even get the tip wet.

  • @tedakin Once again. that video does nothing to dissuade me. it shows off wildlife and 2 other types of quests... that's it. Once again, all I've said is i HOPE they add more to it and am fearful they won't. What is so hard about that statement? Everyone jumps on me for even thinking Rare might not add real progression to their beautiful pirate game. It's a well-founded concern.

  • @kruqnut The beta revealed the game to the public. and there wasnt much. that's all i've ever said, if it releases in that current state it isn't worth $60 dollars, i hope they add more. how many times do i have to say that? 10 times? 1000 times? its an OBSERVATION on the beta. You continue to behave as if i have some sort of vendetta against this game.

  • I agree with u totally. There seems to be no game progression, while the gameplay is alot of fun it gets to b old fast. There needs to be some char and ship customizations. Also the ocean seems very small. There should be unique and legendary Items and crafting of some sort ,possibly a ship builder where u need to. scavenge items to build unique customized ship.I also feel there needs to be pve events where groups of ships and crew need to work together in order to have a successful Victory.Just afew things I think would give the game some Replayability.

  • Judging by a certain post at the top of the subreddit the beta was definitely not the entire game.

There is so much more to be said about this perceived lack of content but at this point it's just gotten old. People don't understand what Rare is doing (Sea of Tease fyi) and they just can't have it explained to them at this point either.
