so you can make it in the closed beta if you didn't get into the Alpha
Sea of Thieves Closed Beta FAQ
@troll1club Yes but you have to pre-order SOT for access to the Closed Beta if you didn't sign up for the Insider program before Dec 1st.

Can be caused by Anti Virus/Firewall settings, but can also be caused by proxy servers and other network management manipulation / tools."It sounds like it could be an issue with your firewall. Have you tried adding SOT to your firewall exceptions list?

Thanks for the beta invite. When does the beta become available for download? On or before 24th Jan?
The details of how Founders will access the Beta has not been communicated yet, but as @JCMDeadpool mentioned we do know that preorder customers will be able to download the Beta from the Xbox store 24hrs before the Beta begins.

If someone did not join the insider programme before the 1st December then they will need to preorder the game to get access to the Beta.
@legibleplanet07
If you are still getting this error after an extended time I would suggest checking your router settings, and if nothing looks out of place then raise a support request in the SOT support section.@khaleesibot Well at least I will be able to stream 2 of those days. I might try to convince my significant other to let me stream on my work days also (normally don't) so I don't miss the great Beta week!! I will make sure to use #SeaofThieves on twitter also @SeaOfTheives when I go live on Twitch! (After some small research) Noticed you put 24-29 GMT. I am assuming that is 12:00 AM on the 24th. If so that means it will be 6:00 PM the 23rd for me! So I may have at least 3 days!! (Hopefully more lol)

Oh awesome! We're looking forward to watching all the content our community creates!
@hallower1980 yeah built-in Xbox One recording is limited to 5 mins....One X is apparently an hour (or the internet is full of lies...) if you have an external HD connected....that isn't used for games. I tested streaming live (twitch) on my Xbox One and it seemed ok at 720p. (my internet is currently about 9Mbps upload)
@hallower1980 yeah figured higher quality (or even acceptable by today's standards..) would mean less clip time. the hour limit they specific is likely for 360/480p. not tried mixer streaming so no idea if it is the same/better/worse. I did have a capture card that plugged into my PC but it was scratched and I'm a little OCD so...haha
besides, you would still need a half decent PC too.EDIT: realised I haven't really given any decent input...apologies
EDIT2 4k is still a pretty niche target/demographic and, in my personal opinion, not worth the extra £/$ spent. I'm sure there will be folks that disagree, saying once you go 4k ....no other way(?) but for normal folk with real budgets 1080p/720p is most realistic@death-sword22 I get what your saying. I never got to play in the alpha. So for me this will be my first time diving into the SOT world. I never been more excited for a new IP it’s got me collecting.

Are we sure that the servers wont fail us?
Even if they do, the devs have methods of throttling back the information being squeezed through, like telemetry data. This will let more players access the servers faster. Once the crowds have peaked, the telemetry can be turned on one by one.
Any hiccups during beta launch will also help the devs be more prepared for... launch-launch.
Pre-order the game and get access to the Closed Beta!
Microsoft only charges you for the game 10 days before the release date!
@benjio-san
The only code you need is a Black Dog Pack code. This will let you download the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta 24 hours prior to the beta launch on January 24 at 12:00 pm (GMT), as well as play in the beta for all 5 days.You can get a Black Dog Pack code by pre-ordering a physical copy of the game and using the code provided by receipt (or by email through some vendors like Amazon). If you pre-order a digital copy of the game, you will automatically have the Black Dog Pack and will not need a code.
@hhhack If you pre-ordered the game through the Xbox or Windows Store, the game will appear in your games library 24 hours before the Closed Beta begins. You will need to download and install it.
If you pre-ordered the game through a retailer, you will need to redeem the code for the Black Dog cosmetic pack. Once you have done this, the game will appear in your games library 24 hours before the Closed Beta begins. You will need to download and install the game.
@harry444410 If you were ever able to play in the alpha, you have been granted Founder status and will automatically be eligible to play in the closed beta.
And you joined around 6 months ago :)
@harry444410 No worries :) It should pop up a message on your Xbox and it will either automatically try to install itself or become available in the store.
