Heyo, returning player from 2019 (if I remember correctly) here, who last played in 2024.
I returned and this game has completely changed, and personally, for the worst.
I will put the changes I do not like bluntly:
- Voyage changes, I do not mind buying voyages from vendors that much, but not scaling the voyage with the reputation you have just feels awful, and worse to think what the grind is for those who just start out.
- The new Pass- The previous passes were alright in my opinion, especially with rewarding the player ancient coins for basically playing the game and was somewhat the only reason I bothered with the pass. The new pass in my opinion is way worse, not only is the paid currency for an already paid game behind a paywall but also it feels very lackluster, with very disappointing voyages and already chosen emporium cosmetics as a compensation.
- Lack of Piracy in the cosmetics- I noticed it before my 2 year hiatus but the recent cosmetics are just "this but pirate shaped".
To be honest those are my main problems with the game and here are my suggestions on how they can be fixed:
- Voyages without going to the vendor still being a thing, but if you bought voyages from the vendor it would scale with your reputation and give you a bigger reward in terms of reputation
- Instead of an emporium cosmetic that everyone will get, replace them with ancient coins so people can buy and dress with whatever they want and would actually give a motivation to complete the pass other than the end reward.
- This I do not have a clear answer to, my best suggestion is to take notes of early cosmetics and take inspiration from pirate media and try incorporate it to the game's style.
