Rework cosmetics tab

  • This game's progression system entirely revolves around cosmetics. Yet, actually using cosmetics is the most annoying process ever. Even games where cosmetics are irrelevant do a better job than this. A few things to point out:

    1. Split up inventories - I kinda get why clothes are separate from tools or body mods in theory. But it really doesn't work well in practice. It's so inconvenient having to run back and forth between the different boxes when making an outfit. It's time consuming and serves no discernable purpose. It's just annoying and makes the process a test of patience.
    2. No way to organize - after playing for a while, the selection becomes super bloated. Having to go through pages of shirts just to find the one I want is annoying. Let us mark favourites or - even better - let us create and organize folders or categories. Now this might be overkill but something definitely needs to happen here.
    3. No outfit saves - went into detail about this one elsewhere so I won't elaborate here.
    4. Perspective - Seriously: the preview window where I can see the stuff I'm about to put on is so bad. The perspective is weird, the colours seem warped and there's no control over this thing. Why do I have to wait for my pirate to slowly spin around so I can check out tattoo details on his left shoulder? Why can't I just rotate him myself? I really don't see any reason why. I can only imagine this system has been untouched since alpha. Let us zoom, rotate and shift the camera in the preview window!
    5. Lag - not sure if this is just a console thing but the game seems to have trouble loading cosmetics smoothly. There's a noticeable delay each time it has to display a new piece. I don't know if anything can be done about it. All I know is it should be seamless and that other games manage this feat regularly, even the ones where cosmetics are not the main focus.

In conclusion, this whole thing creaks and groans under the slightest pressure. It's severely undercooked and it really shouldn't be. I mean, do you not sell cosmetics? Isn't that like your main source of revenue? Then why is the act of applying and previewing cosmetics such a bother? Please do something. Honestly, I may well even accept this as a main line feature for an update.

  • You also get to a point when you have too many of something and can't find the ones you like anymore so you just use the first and last page
