In the future? Simply record and report. It's really not difficult to do, I promise. It's a lot better than this convoluted system of voting "good" to those who sunk you (like anyone would do that in the first place 😂).

Players would probably be more likely to abuse this system and vote “bad” to players that sink them. Having a moderation team accomplishes this and prevents abuse of the system.

Also, if you don’t want to download anything, both Steam and XBox gamebar have clipping options that can be set up in only a few button presses

^^^ +1 Exactly what I said. A voting system would punish innocent players (if you sink a ship, you can vote them "bad"), it would be exploited to no end, it would hurt players who sank you fairly (since after voting them "bad", the value of the treasure they took is now reduced), players would see their gold earnings affected (gold is already easy to earn in the first place, except OP's idea hurts the amount you earn), and it just creates a community that downvotes each other into oblivion....all to save OP the trouble of record/report.

A few button presses are too complicated.

You show again and again that you are incapable or unwilling to read. There is no reduction and people that abise the system are easy to be cit out of the rating ig you understand Statistics.

And as said before watvh ovrr your own horizon please. Not everyone can and will record. For example consoles. Expecting third party tools to allow people to play your games is plain wrong. And even if someone is banned, it is prooven that ban evasion is a thing that people do.

  • The community is only as good as the game allows it to be. This game is so poorly made and with so many bad decisions, how could the community ever be good when we have to constantly deal with how trash this game is? Lag backsplashing because there is a slightly graphically intensive enemy that goes in and out of your FOV and when it does it causes your game to stutter, making you sink yourself. Making the switch weapon button the same as the open crate/open barrel/accept mast note button so that you can beat any console/controller player by just covering your deck in crates. Forcing controller players to have auto view centering on sail controls and anchor no matter what, with no option to change it, but an option to make every other thing you can grab like that force your view to center in the same annoying way.

They think that changing the bone caller spawn rates is something of value. That is what they are putting their time into. There will be no content for the next 6 months and they think that what we want is changes to bone callers, and not changes to the very fabric of the game. 1/10th of the time I eat, the game decides I didn't. Even with server auth hit markers you get hitreg and get hitreg'd on because you/your opponent see your bullet hit the but deal no damage. LSS had to be closed down early because for the 2nd time in a row and in a different way both times, the game mode has a bug where the winner still loses. They think we want commendations for a brand new game mode that has never worked properly when you sometimes get stuck on ladders or you can board an opponents ship and not be allowed to use or sometimes even SEE parts of their ship. LSS comms but the health bar is still broken any time you take fire/poison/drowning/boiling damage. They "updated" the healthbar to a worse version that broke more than it tried to fix and then just left it like that for months instead of reverting it. Your mast still doesn't go out when you splash it. Recently I've been having a bug where the game refuses to allow me to open my quick wheel. I'm just not allowed to bucket or eat or repair because the game just doesn't work. Waves are somehow getting worse every season, the rock makes it beyond unplayable at times.

TLDR: Community sucks because we have to deal with a game that the devs have clearly stopped actually caring about and playing years ago.

Disagree, community sucks because remaining people gravitating on the game (specially on HG\TDM community) suck and there is no meaningfull action taken. Game beeing in a poor state doesnt excuse poor behaviour towards other players.

  • @oldreclaimer I never said it excused it, I said it caused it. We have to deal with a game that is in such a bad state that we might as well call it an abusive relationship. The devs are in "listening mode" by their own admission which is why they are changing bone callers and adding commendations to a game mode that has never once worked properly in the one release in insiders and the two releases in live.

I agree. Bad performance and debatable game decisions on the side of rare might be making it worse but thats just shifting blame. Its a decision on each individuall to be toxic and excusing it by something that everyone has to deal with is just that an excuse.

"If you dont sink then that is a Choice but aside from the vood behavior points you will loose out on Gold from their loot.
And the rating is easily fixed by letting the player select specific behavior when rating. Like talked nice in chat. And as said if someone consistently only votes bad their vote might be worth less than someone that votes good and bad equaly. That is easy to build something like that into a system."

I sail over to a ship, to see they've hidden stacked treasure below. I sink them. Because I caught them off-guard, they vote me "bad", so if I sell their loot now, "you will loose out on Gold from their loot."(--quoted from you), making selling their treasure pointless to me then. Even though I "talked nice in chat" and wasn't toxic, I'm still to be punished with reduced gold.

A newer player has voted "bad" a number of times now, because they keep getting sunk by other players. "And as said if someone consistently only votes bad their vote might be worth less than someone that votes good and bad equally. That is easy to build something like that into a system."

Is this correct here? Or am I lying and not reading again?

Thank goodness we can record and report the individuals who choose to be toxic, regardless of their reasons for choosing to be so.

  • excusing it by something that everyone has to deal with is just that an excuse.

Yes. Just like we have to deal with people double gunning, scooping, talking smack, bantering, calling you trash, throwing loot into water, etc
.

But all these things are dealt with by using what we already got and what we are told.
Wanting to make it worse for everyone with some fake royalties for fake point system by other players.

  • @europa4033 This system could still go poorly. If you come across a disproportionate amount of bad players, that could shift your rating down even though you are using the system as intended. I can't think of a single way in which a community run rep system would ever be a good and usable idea.

  • We recently had a bug where scuttling in HG, even after getting sunk, did not credit the winner correctly. The loser didn't suffer anything negative, and willingly entered into a competition with the other ship, and some still decided to affect their opponent after a fair match.

There's no way there should be inter-player ratings of any kind, because it can and will be abused.
