Suggestion for PvP and PvE game revitalization

  • Ahoy pirates of fresh, salt, or stormy waters! I hope you're all doing well and enjoying this wonderful game that we all love here.
With my suggestion, I want to help improve the game's visibility and playability. Sea of Thieves is a fantastic game, but it's very hidden. It's difficult for new players to discover it. There's very little talk about it. Commercials, ads, YouTubers, streamers—very few people mention it.It's something to be taken seriously. Sea of Thieves is like walking barefoot on the beach and accidentally stubbing your little toe on a pure gold goblet without you even noticing.

Sea of Thieves has a loyal and dedicated community that has supported it for many years. And it will continue to support it for many more if its voice is heard. (It's like a married couple: if you don't pay attention, they'll drift apart It abandons you ).

The Sea of Thieves community is divided into two factions: those who engage in and enjoy PvP, and those who engage in and enjoy PvE. But it's so unbalanced that it's losing a large number of players, a significant portion of the community. This is happening to both PvP and PvE players, with PvE players leaving more Because they were not heard, rapidly than PvP players. They are getting so bored that they end up quitting the game Because it's monotonous. Because it's repetitive. The community is so divided that PvP players hate on PvE players, and they hate on each other, making the game very toxic and unpleasant to play.

Suggestion Safe Seas PVE Mode: Being able to use any ship you've bought is the whole point of buying a ship; even the most veteran player would like to play on safe seas with their own ships. (Because it would be good, that way PvE players who play in safe seas will invest more in the emporium by buying captaincy or ship skins) since they are locked, why invest in that It takes away the pleasure of the player and collector of safe seas by not being able to spend their money on captaincy or ship skins that they like because they cannot use it on their own ships.
Well, on the ship's milestones, the only ones that would be removed in safe seas would be those of (guardians, and the servants' ones which are from pvp Not forgetting the much less important role of emissary Those are from the high seas.)

Reputation or praise: you don't need to play as a guild in safe waters. But it would be very good, and would make many people want to return to the game, to be able to raise the level of alliances.(gold, merchant, souls, hunter And smugglers are implementing that faction. It's very rarely used.) Now that players can play those factions without level restrictions, they will have more freedom to choose whether they want to do PvP. Because special ones like (servants, bones of the reaper, guardians and fortune of Athena are from the high seas)

Praise in safe waters: it's just restricting those that are PvP-related Or those that involve another player. So anyone who feels drawn to unlocking those praises will go in search of them on the high seas. (Players should not be forced to do PvP)
It attracts players who quit the game due to constant "ganking" and allows them to enjoy the art and story without interruption. More comfort. Bearing in mind that you will not earn more XP or gold than on the high seas

The smuggler and hunter factions are two largely forgotten alliances. Implementing new adventures would make them more appealing to players.
We could also add new environmental zones to the map, Swamps Damned and their swampy islands, coastal jungles. such as frozen arctic regions, or mangrove jungles and treacherous areas where the sea becomes untamed. Tornados or sea whirlpools And we could add more sea monsters. The sea feels very empty. (That would help YouTubers and streamers create content from the game.

Suggestion for secure forward ports: It's understandable that the game is about pirates. And most people role-play as dishonorable pirates and thieves, etc. But if you need safe zones where you can't fire cannons or weapons, where you can only drink grog and talk, make friends and alliances, gaming groups. Lately in Sea of Thieves there's nowhere safe to make friends or alliances or meet other players; everyone is afraid and attacks each other at the sight of another player. There's no way to have friendly dialogues; the most popular ones are "gg" or a racist/xenophobic insult. Or arguments about countries and languages. Less pirate fighting, more community unity.

Suggestion for safe seas mode without a Game Pass connection: It's important that in-game events that aren't PvP-based be allowed, as many people will have purchased the game in some version, and for whatever reason (X or Y) can't afford Game Pass. They will be affected by not being able to complete events or missions in Safe Seas without a Game Pass connection, and it would be unfair if these people couldn't participate in those events, such as the Hoarder event. The doubloons can't be used without a Game Pass subscription. That's unfair, since those people paid (bought) the item but miss out on special events if they don't have Game Pass. (Many will miss the filthy rats event; the doubloon reset is very unfair.)

Accessibility in the game: for people with disabilities In my case, I have a visually impaired brother. But he loves listening to the game's sound effects: birds, ocean waves when he falls into the water or swims, when he shoots or does anything. The sound in the game is majestic. Although he can't see, he can hear. He tells me he imagines every sound, the beach, the ship, everything. It would be unique and majestic if the game added a narrator that, when activated, would allow The player with this disability can play. They can only play by listening to the game narrator tell them where the character is looking or what object they are looking at. For example, if the character is stuck against a wall. The game should tell them things like "you're looking at a wall," "you're swimming," "you're getting on a boat," "you're walking," or "you're looking at a palm tree," so the person with that disability can imagine the surroundings. Game Based on sounds, since they are able to memorize the controls, but they lack a narrator to tell them what the pirate is observing. If you turn to the left or to the right, it indicates whether you are observing the sun, the sky, or the sea. Sometimes tears well up in my heart when I hear how excited he gets when he hears I'm going to play the game, how the game's sound and atmosphere transport him to an imaginary world. He cannot see, but he can hear and imagine. Being a pirate thanks to Rare.

Photo mode suggestion: It's no secret that most players love taking pictures of the game's most beautiful landscapes. This would greatly enhance the game's content.

Suggestion for the open sea PVP mode: The Hourglass (HG) Add a kill cam Many players who take PvP seriously They would like to see where they went wrong or how they died. Or a post-sinking record. (The content that the players would create and produce would be like omg )

Suggestion for the hourglass mode: It's a full PvP mode where skill, time, and experience speak for themselves. Implement fair matchmaking. Where the 1000-hour player is not matched with a 3-day player who mistakenly entered the hourglass. A method where experienced players face off against other experienced players so they don't get bored with the game due to a lack of fair competition or matches at their level; most players seek rivals.Worthy places where the battle is rewarding, not where you enter a battle and the other player doesn't even know how to repair their ship. The PvP player seeks fair and balanced challenges.

Anti-cheat suggestion: For the game to be fair, the anti-cheat system must be good, since we can't deny that cheaters are always present in PvP events. They hack to improve their speed and jumps. They become invisible or invulnerable. In the past Hourglass event, there were a lot of cheaters. And that's a priority, since the players who are truly talented in PvP...When faced with cheaters, they get bored with the game and end up quitting. Please prioritize the game's anti-cheat system.

Hourglass map suggestion: Hourglass battles. They sometimes become boring, not because of the players, but because the map is very monotonous, mundane, and simple. The PvP player He desperately wants more challenging maps, like storms or erupting volcanoes. Whirlpools or rocks that are hard to see—the challenge shouldn't just be fighting one human against another. The ship should also embody the environment, the area, the terrain. There should be attacks from krakens, skeletons, and giant sea serpents, and the game itself should naturally intervene in a real battle. Player vs. player Excitement and adrenaline are what they seek, and it would liven up the game.

More cosmetic suggestions and hourglass curses: It is known that keeping an entire video game community happy is very difficult, but it is not complicated. PvP players often feel demotivated when they reach the level cap and obtain cosmetics and everything related to PvP. To the point that they lose their enthusiasm for playing. They used to think they were almost at level 1000, or even higher, but that's over now.Implement something that gives more rewards, whether for playtime or PvP battles, increased difficulty, ranked mode with unique PvP ranks and titles, and unique pirate skins. Ranked play will attract PvE players not only to reach level 1000 or its associated curses, but also to what a ranked mode can offer each season. It will be different. Different and unique. One to remember.

Season End Event Suggestion: Each season marks a significant milestone in the world of Sea of Thieves. And what better way to celebrate than by offering unique events to all the players who have been part of it? During those seasons, sharing and enjoying their time in this wonderful game Add server-side events where all players must participate together as a community. Award balanced prizes to participants, whether on the high seas or in safe waters. There are two communities, don't forget...
Events with super giant sea monsters like the legend of a certain (CTHULHU) Or similar things where the server's players are forced to participate and defeat said monster. Major canonical events in the history of Sea of Thieves.

And I could go on, but it's already gotten too long. I hope you like the suggestions. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions you'd like to add, please leave them in the comments. Thanks for reading this far. (Don't forget to share and leave a like)

  • The Sea of Thieves community is divided into two factions: those who engage in and enjoy PvP, and those who engage in and enjoy PvE

Myth and wrong. It’s just pvpve players. Just because you enjoy one more the other does t mean the other is less used. After all, pvp only players deal with pve threats as well during there conquest and pve only have to deal with pvp.

Another post hiding behind wall of text
The strictly want more pve safe havens

  • @burnbacon Sorry, I'm into PvP, and I've noticed on all the forums, both Reddit and Discord, that the communities are divided on that aspect; PvP and PvE don't align. They're divided, and it shouldn't be that way.
There might be a wall of text, but these are good suggestions.
No, safe harbors are for the high seas; there's no way to form groups there. Alliances are difficult, and you have to find players to play with. (It's not for safe seas.) It was important to add that it cannot be sold in safe ports. That they only serve as safe havens for fights is a separate issue. If you're chasing someone and they stay in a safe harbor and you camp them for 1000 hours until they leave, well, that depends on each player. I don't know if you understand what I mean.

  • @zipplay9292 To be honest, I hate Safer Seas.

I don't see how anywone could play Sea of Thieves for any long period of time in this mode.
I do understand it is nice for new players to get to learn the basics for a while, but "the basics" are not something you play with for more than 10 to 20 hours.

Safer Seas have become, for a lot of people, at best a tutorial mode, at worst a commendation with no risk attached grind mode, in both of them, there is no thrill or fun and the game is deprieved of what it was built for in my opinion.

I do like your supergiant monster idea though, and I hope the rework of the Kraken will make it a better encounter that what it currently is (a forced stop for 1min)

  • @arias1101 I'm into PvP, I like PvP. But I've come across many PvE players who get caught up in those problems. For me, building a fort of monsters is an everyday occurrence, and megalodons, etc., plus... Hourglass, but for PvE players, that name is a huge challenge. And let's not forget that this game is played by children, couples who just want to play and be together. People with disabilities. And that's not even mentioning newcomers or those who don't like PvP; it's a community. And there's nothing wrong with PvE players having what they want; that way they'll learn PvP faster. Because PvE does get boring at a certain point, as you say, but for many people it doesn't. For some, it's like playing Minecraft all day alone and relaxing. ((The more you deny a child something, the more they will want it until you give it to them, and then they will look for something else, and that will be the PvP :)
Thank you, hopefully some suggestions will help with the future of the game.

  • @zipplay9292 I'm not to much of a PvP player to be honest. I have a lot of experience with the game and I do commendations (so I have to HG to get some of them), but I don't think playing SoT for the PvP is good either.

For casual players who just want to do tall tales and go on with their days, I can see the use of Safer Seas, of course. But I do think most of the community should (and does) embrace the chaotic nature of the original High Seas. This is what makes the soul of the game, and I don't think investing further in a minority of casual players that want to avoid it is a good idea.

  • @markma4869 I'm sure you're sarcastic about it, but let me explain you my viewpoint.

I don't think this game is built "for" PvP or to be a competitive game, I think this game is built with PvP in mind.
All the PvE experience is tailored around the possibility (and risk) of PvP.
In fact, PvP encounters happens to me only when I'm not carefull, about 1 out of 4 time per 5h game session.

It is the possibility of PvP that makes SoT great, not the PvP in itself.

I do understand people want a "safe place", but I really don't see how the "safe place" for learning players should earn as much as the original way the game was designed.

Let me be clear on one thing:
A new, or a casual player, might think "the game is hard enough in PvE" like I just read here (I'm French luckily).
    It is not.
Once you get the basics (more than 20 to 40 hours of gameplay), you will have face and win against pretty much every threat the pure PvE side of the game might be able to throw at you, and the experience will only turn into a mindless, riskless, thrill-less grind.

This is a message to all player that might agree with OP:
Give High Seas a try, for real.
I guarantee you won't come back.

  • @arias1101 I played in the High sea or normal sea since day 1. Rare can easily make this game works for both PvE only and PvPvE, but they wont, because PvP are what Rare wants and community loves (it is a pirate game and we can do anything to be a pirate). Games like EVE, no men sky, ARC raiders, and some other games make examples already to balance between PvE and PvP under various methods.
The thing is most people just want to play this game like a PvE game, and PvP players and wannabes should never tell other people how to play this game just because it is a pirate game. IF I want to play PvP and grind so hard to learn PvP, I will just play other normal PvP focused game like apex, cs, val, or bf. Also this game is not even like other PvPvE games where everyone knows they will have to engage in PvP at some points. some PvP wannabes in this game just really like force PvE people into PvP by being "pirate".
But anyway this game is destoried by both Rare and some parts of the community. And people still think competitive players are the focus in this game is so funny. This game will never be huge again if Rare still think PvP and competitive players can save this game.

  • @arias1101 Rare could make a high sea verison of safe sea no PvP and only gain 75% or 70% of gold or progress but double the number of ships in the server and PvE contents in the server. And make Reaper's Bones exculsive to high sea and requirments for being Pirate Legend higher (LvL 65 instead of 50) in safe sea. Doubloon only possible in normal high sea and you can only get Doubloons via battlepass if you played in safe sea. PvPvE will be happy as well as PvE. The only people wont would be those wannabe "pirates".

  • @markma4869 said in Suggestion for PvP and PvE game revitalization:

Do you perhaps see the fundamental flaw with making a PvP-oriented faction available to sail for in an environment that lacks PvP?

  • @markma4869 ??? A "high sea" version of safer sea with no pvp ?
You do realize this makes absolutely no sens ?

You accept the risk to encounter players that could attack you, or you want to play alone and accept to be less rewarded for it. There is no in beetween, and no in between reward either.

Besides, Rare cannot just "double the number of ships" on servers.
I realize you must be young or new to the game so I'll explain it: The ship limit is currently technical more than anything.

I insist you should try to play the game for a bit in its intended way (the original "High Seas"), wich is more interesting, rewarding, and stimulating.

  • And make Reaper's Bones exculsive to high sea and requirments for being Pirate Legend higher (LvL 65 instead of 50) in safe sea. Doubloon only possible in normal high sea and you can only get Doubloons via battlepass if you played in safe sea

This alone is already a problem players in SS only playstyle. They hate they can’t do reaper stuff and making doubloons behind a paywall? Yeah….

  • @Arias1101

For most of the comments you’ve been making since the beginning of this thread, they’re absolutely not objective…
In your view, a Sea of Thieves experience without PvP, meaning without encounters with other players, is uninteresting and not stimulating, but that’s not the case for everyone.
Let’s try to stay objective, please.

I’m keeping a very small hope, about as much as for the release of Star Citizen, that there will be a PvE mode (which already exists) but without absurd limitations.
From time to time I come back to check on the game, even though I stopped a long time ago because it’s PvP-only.

I’m going back to Windrose while waiting for a miracle from Rare.
