Title: New Ship Suggestion: The Man-of-War with Functional Gun Deck

  • Body:
Hi Rare, I have a suggestion for a new heavy ship type (Man-of-War) that focuses on crew discipline and realism.
Double Steering Wheel: A massive wheel that requires more effort to turn, giving the feeling of a heavy, powerful ship.
Functional Gun Deck: A lower deck where the cannons are hidden behind port-holes.
Manual Port-holes: Crew members should have to pull ropes to open the port-holes before the cannons can be pushed out and fired.
Command Discipline: The gameplay should be about the Captain giving the order "FIRE!" over the headset, and the crew firing a synchronized broadside.
Increased Capacity: This ship should be able to carry more supplies and decorations (like a real Galleon) to fit the "Pirate Legend" aesthetic.
We need more than 4 players for this beast! Let's make the seas scary again!

Players can’t even focus themselves to sail current galleon or even BB. No discipline and it’s fantasy.

Don’t think we need a new ship for players to avoid

How are crewmembers supposed to see what they're shooting at?

Usually my crew know when to fire on their own, without anyone ordering them to. Although, not being able to see what they're firing from the lower deck (preventing mid-deck holes on a galleon) would be a bit of an issue...

  • Have you tried to put together a decent gally crew lately? It's next to impossible...imagine how it will go when you try to gather a crew of 5 or 6.

  • @steliostheo6588 like the idea of having the primary way to communicate when to shoot is the captain saying “fire!”

  • @burnbacon completely agree

  • @europa4033 for your first questionFriend, the 'visibility problem' you're talking about only exists if your crew is a chaotic mess where everyone fires whenever they feel like it, like some circus soldiers.
In a real Man-of-War, the Captain is the eyes of the entire ship. When I give the command 'FIRE!' through the headset, the gunners on the lower deck don't need to see; they execute blindly and in perfect sync. This is the Command Discipline that the game is missing! We want realism: the Captain commanding from the helm and the ship shaking from the fury of the cannons, not everyone staring out of the windows like tourists!"1

    and for the second
That's exactly why you need a Captain. If your crew fires 'on their own' without coordination, you're just a bunch of people on a boat, not a warship. On my ship, we don't waste cannonballs. We fire as one, and we sink the enemy as one. That's the difference between a real Man-of-War and a circus act."2

  • @burnbacon If there is no discipline we are like a circus, there is no harmony.

  • @metal-ravage "I understand that finding a good crew is hard, but a Man-of-War isn't for random casuals or 'circus acts.' It’s for real Pirate Legends and organized crews who use headsets and follow orders. If you have a real Captain, 6 people working in sync would be unstoppable. We shouldn't limit the game's potential just because some people can't cooperate!"

6% game completion, one day in the forums, I'm sure you know what you are talking about.

  • @metal-ravage true sea wolves recognize each other from afar. Glad you saw the discipline behind the 6%. The rest of you stay on your lands and watch the horizon. We'll see you again when my Man-of-War is tearing through the waves. Fair winds, ally! 🧭⚔️"

  • The burning blade is already a Man-O-War and would never get a bigger ship till rare drops support for Xbox one

  • @thesussyduk The Burning Blade is just a world event, not a ship you can truly own or call home. I’m talking about a permanent Man-O-War for the fleet, . While you're chasing events, I'm building a legacy.

If my flex is trying to board and they're guarding ladders, my cannoneer(s) need to see where to shoot to give the flex assistance. If my opponent is trying to raise their mast, my cannoneer(s) either need to shoot in that area, or wait until it's raised to shoot a chainshot accurately. If my opponent is firing cannons at us, we not only aim for their cannonline, but also hit lowers on that galleon. This is what a coordinated crew does. By eliminating their ability to see by having them fire cannons blindly from the mid-deck, they can't fire accurately or effectively.

To add to this, having stationary cannons will make it impossible to oneball enemies on cannons and also make the cannoneers themselves untouchable. If this was added man-O-war hg would boil down to a guard on each ladder, a helm, then everyone else juggling cannons and bilging and no one would gain the upper hand. Not to mention that boarding with cannons would be impossible, as you have to see the tip in order to get in which wouldn’t be doable if they were sticking out of the hull, and being forced to ram the enemy (taking damage) or use a grapple gun (missing weapon slot) are the only way to board, and both are detrimental to the boarder or their crew.

  • @europa4033 You're kidding us, buddy. A few days ago you were talking nonsense about us supporting this and now you're playing us off by becoming an ally.

  • @ewokbuilder You’re missing the point. A Man-O-War isn't supposed to be just another ship; it’s a floating fortress that requires actual naval doctrine. If you can’t 'oneball' an enemy because they have structural protection, then you have to use strategy, cursed balls, or superior maneuvering to win. As for boarding, it should be high-risk, high-reward, not a circus trick. Real naval combat is about coordination and broadsides, not just jumping around like a monkey. Some of us want a challenge, not a stalemate. Savvy?"

  • @steliostheo6588 Yes and the BB is a Man-O-War type ship. Its the biggest we will ever get. and its stuck behind a world event. Rare cant ever add new ships and crazy new stuff unless they drop support for old gen, ur legacy is dead. the topic of a man-o-war has been a thing for years and would never happen. the only thing I could see rare ever doing is making gally 5 or 6 player and I would have a better chance at the lotto then seeing rare adding a 5+ man ship to the game

Never have, never will, and you have me confused with someone else lol. How do you expect my cannoneers to see what they're shooting at by firing from the mid-deck? Also, by having those spaces occupied, you prevent mid-deck holes on a galleon, making them more difficult to sink. With 6% of the game played, it would be in your best interest to get more experience.
