Mr. President, Rare is Making a Good Update

  • I have never seen this in years, this is like finding the Ark of the Covenant.

Rare's developer update was... good. It was good! It wasn't the best of all time, but it's not the worst thing to watch! We got a good update!!!!! Chat... we are SO BACK!!!!!

The Emporium change is one of the best things for this game's health. There is way too much clutter in the Emporium, not because of how it's organized, but how much stuff is in there. There is no need for the hundreds of cosmetics being displayed all at once. Just like other shops in video games, it will rotate. There is no FOMO since they will come back to rotation, so that excuse is already out.

The anti-cheat being updated will always be a positive, only issue is that they've upgraded from their hand to sandpaper, it still needs to be changed.

Other than that, we must wait until the update drops, but from what we got right now, it is looking pretty pretty good. HOPEFULLY, they find mark.

  • @karminiumsot I appreciate what feels like exaggeration of again, what feels like, genuinely positive sentiment.

Everyone is AGAIN up in arms about something that doesn't really have any impact on them or their gameplay. Specifically, the rotating stock in the Emporium.

Every so often, I peruse the ship liveries in the Emporium, and by like page 7, I'm over it...and there's still an ungodly number of pages left... occasionally, I'll skip forward like half way and go "oh yeah that's a cool set that I forgot came out like 3+ years ago".

I'm guessing newer players have that same experience (probably worse since it's they're first time being exposed to the whole catalog). It's overwhelming. There's way too much in there at this point. No amount of UI improvements are going to make browsing like 60+ liveries a better experience... Not to mention all the other categories in there. It's like having to browse the chip/snack aisle at the local Walmart and then also having to browse the shampoo aisle.

Paradox of Choice is a real thing. I can appreciate that Rare recognizes that and is taking action to make it not only a better experience, but also possibly make the Emporium more profitable as a result.

But nah it's way more fun for the community to just tag it as FOMO and pile on the outrage for something that's inconsequential to gameplay.
