Lobby's based on type of ship

Why not just sell more often? Then you can just dive before a ship gets close enough.

I like the threat of bigger ships - it inevitably makes you restrict your expectations of what you can achieve but it also keeps you on your toes.
PvE without the threat of PvP(sometimes unbalanced by larger crew numbers) keeps it interesting.
Solo or sloop servers would be tedious.

Black Kegs have been a good addition that can give bigger ships something to think about.

There be no Galleon servers and Brig servers will server merge every 20min.

IIRC, Season 19 Act 2 - the arena-like event mode would involve sloops only. So u can look forward to that.

I still like seeing ships of varied sizes on the open seas.

Asymmetrical pvp/alliances can be interesting.
