  • Good. A rushed season full of bugs is not great for a launch (much like this season).

  • I view it as a positive decision, I would much rather this team focus on getting things right as opposed to hurrying to get things out. There is a LOT in this game nowadays so if it takes some more time to get polish on the content, then do it.

  • @burnbacon I see it as a good decision and since its a month this should give them more time on features that were underwhelming. That said, we are grateful that Rare can acknowledge they've messed up, but they need to start making tangible improvements at this point.

  • I’ll say it.

It’s laughable. We were all around for the never ending season a few years back. They dropped mysteries to be able to be on schedule, the dropped backstory/world building/lore to maintain schedule, THEN we changed to the staggered season format to maintain schedule……

It seems as if we aren’t maintaining schedule….. I think rare again has focused on too many things rather than having that “dedicated” team for the season.

The new forced dive mechanic is one of the things I’m referring to. If you haven’t seen. Should your ship sink to players 3 times in x amount of time you get forced merged. Some of you will say this is good, but what if you are the single sloop taking on a server alliance…… 3 attempts to sink 4 other ships is all I get?

The new season and story look to be rad, but it seems they keep repeating the same mistakes. Little/no content or Massive delays that hurt the excitement of the upcoming content.

  • I think it's good. People are enjoying the reaper forts with mega stashes, and those who aren't interested have more time to focus on older commendations. One month of delay won't kill anyone.

  • My take is - I don't see any tangible improvements since they switched to these short monthly content updates. At times, it even seems worse than as before lol. More glitches and gamebreaking bugs, and more often 😂

If the idea was to be easier for them to meet deadlines and to push content and patches, I'm not convinced it's working so far. Or at least not as they (and we, as players) have hoped for.

Imho, they may as well just switch back to the old days, with a few smaller, and one big yearly update that's actually gonna bring something new (not a recycled material), and make some interesting changes. 🤷‍♂️

Regarding the latest specific statement from Drew - yea, I'm glad they've postponed it, but only if it means they're finally gonna get their act straight and fix stuff. As well as keep up the pace after that.

If they could actually deliver quality and on time, I would've never considered that going back to the old model might've been a possible option in the first place.

TL:DR - until I see results instead of YT yapping, I'm gonna stay very reserved being hyped about anything really.

  • Get it out when it's ready.
Reaper Fortresses have been on fire so an extension of that is a sweetener. Might even get my Generous Gifts comms completed.

Also it is handy because you cannot currently purchase Ancient Coins using MS reward points till December so nice the new season and new Plunder Pass is delayed.

  • I don't like the act structure. I adding fomo every month to FORCE us back is lame. When they 1st decided to drip feed the seasonal content I was like fine rather than doing the stuff in month 1 I will just wait till month 3 to do all the content. But now we HAVE to login EVERY SINGLE MONTH... I have played enough games, this one included, which make you grind like it's a job. That's how they structured the reward and commendation system. I do get part of that is on me. I can just decide to add stuff to the list of "I don't care about this content" like I did we arena and hourglass. But for the PvE stuff which is what I do actually want... I was enjoying our span of time where outside of the seasonal levels everything else was do it when you want. It allowed much more casual play.

So as far as this delay I am assuming it would have happened even without the act structure? Or maybe it wouldn't? I don't follow the insiders side of things much anymore since they stopped adding rewards and I maxed out, the times I truly just wanted to test out new features they were never adding them to insiders in a way to test the way I wanted so I decided to save some hard drive space. But is Act2 and 3 of season 18 done? If so then delaying the season because of Act1 just shows how bad the system actually is. A full content drop like they used to do then they would have 3 months to iron out what's wrong with Act1.

But if were being real the whole point of Acts is to make the game look better on a graph of monthly user engagement. The old method of 1 big drop they would see a big spike month 1 and a rapid drop off as the weeks progress with it only spiking back up a bit during a community day or something. Just makes the game look bad from a numbers perspective. This act system is probably looking really good on graphs so it is here to stay. For better or worse. My vote's on worse.

Also thinking of it from the shop perspective they release new items every month but the 1st month has the most eyes on the new cosmetics the other 2 months were not getting as much visibility as the others. So forcing us back every month and having a cash shop ad thrown in our face every time we login... Annoying but they do need to make money.

  • It’s not that is a small delay…… we all agree get it out correctly and take a month to do so……

It’s that THIS has been one of the core complaints from the community for awhile now. The constant delays and then game breaking bugs that come with it.

Yesterday during gold and glory there were 47 looking for groups…… it used to be in the 200’s on a Tuesday afternoon. The main posts? HG players.

Yet the community effectively says they are the ultra small majority and not what keeps the game moving…. But they are the only ones posting.

Mega stashes are great but after 7 forts all comms are done. What keeps people coming back?

  • I don't know about you but Season 17 didn't have major "game breaking" bugs. I mean this game had serious issues 2-3 years ago. The mast bug, funny launching, map launching, fishing launching, quick swapping, keg-harpooning, silent-ladder-grabbing, supply-duplicating, FPS issues when in ship combat—remember portal hopping?! what a joke that was!—silent-reaper-raising, mobs-stuck-in-fort-geometry....

I'm sure I'm missing a few good ones too.

The game has objectively continued to get better.

Is it always better in the way I want it? or you want it? Certainly not. But it's definitely always being worked on there have been improvements.

This new approach is definitely better IMO and the last survey they released was actually pretty good.

  • @r3vanns YT yapping is only thing they like really deliver on constant pace.

Like they were never good on maintaining thing but YT yapping was always properly made.

Guess after year of half-baked content maybe this one will pan off but from what they said and show on insider's in not really optimistic.

  • @magus104 rewards are tied to commendation system because it easier that maitan economy or deliver enough clothing ship sets for gold shop to make things interesting.

  • @rare-jumbie in water hitreg is HORRIBLE I had one instance where all 5 EOR did nothing to the player.

They game gets better but then they go behind the scenes and change things that bring about worse problems so then we are stuck with patches to fix the bugs and nerfs to fix the nerfed nerfs.

I also think that this community basically begging for a new game every 3 months doesn’t help either. Like I’m not upset this game gets updates like this but no other game does. Every month/week it’s another “this isn’t good enough do this” post on top of that and we wonder why the main updates are always behind.

This game has reworked combat about 5 separate times. Each time the sword users complain that double gunning isn’t fair, qs is broken. Imagine if battlefield 6 did new modes, maps, and complete overhauls every 1-3 months. It’d never get anything done.

At some point players need to play the game and stop nitpicking every aspect of it.
