Aggressive PvE spawn problem

  • For some time now, I've been experiencing overly aggressive PVE spawns. I'm referring primarily to aggressive megalodons that are impossible to get rid of without killing them. This is very irritating, especially when other players appear on the horizon and Megalodon's aggro is locked in on me. For a larger crew, this may not be a significant factor, but for a solo slooper, it's a gamechanger, preventing any counterattacks in the form of boarding and causing constant pressure in the form of further holes. In the past, it was enough to sail under an island or rock and the problem would disappear, but now the Megalodon respawns indefinitely every time I sail away from the island or rock. Very often, right after defeating the "megalodon boss," a regular Megalodon would respawn almost immediately, significantly hindering my ability to collect loot from the previous one. The difficulties I experience with megalodons are taking away from my enjoyment of the game. They can be compared to persistent mosquitoes in the middle of the night when you've clearly defined your goal of a sweet sleep, and they decide to buzz around your ear all night until you hunt them down.

    Proposed solutions:

    • Limiting megalodon respawns after sailing a certain distance
    • Increasing the likelihood of aggro being caught by a larger crew, which could balance the odds at sea
    • Reducing the likelihood of megalodon spawning on solo sloops (not everyone would be happy with this option)
    • Complete despawning of megalodons near more than one ship (including the Burning Blade)
    • Or complete loss of aggro without despawning by megalodons near multiple ships

Thank you for your time and attention. Regards, Falafelpeel

  • I feel like drew has said something in one of his update vids about tweaking emergent spawn rates when multiple ships are together

  • 1.) Not the worst idea, though it might accidentally make megs super rare, knowing Rares ability to fix probability (S15 kraken anyone?)
2.) I don't hate it, but that also makes it so that it's basically guaranteed to knock a meg off of you onto a larger ship, which could lead to using the meg as a gameplay tactic.
3.) I personally don't hate this option, but I imagine it would be annoying for anyone who happens to be a meg hunter and is looking for these encounters.
4.) This is the worst idea I think. It would make it so that you can never support someone in killing a meg, it would also make it so that you could force a meg off of someone else without them having any way to stop it aside from running.
5.) This would make it so that having 2 ships next to each other would allow you to farm megs with 0 risk.

Not gonna say I have any better solutions, as someone who basically never fights megs all I do is scrape them off on islands until I get where I need to go, and if another player shows up, I better hope they are friendly or that after I scrape the meg off onto the island it aggroes on them instead.

  • And players seem to complain kraken never spawns. Or megs not spawning enough so they can get the new loot.

It’s a messy thing. One side, players welcome the spawns. Much better than simply pvp we want pvpve. Other side. Players dislike the spawns during pvp….

    Nobody is happy

Eeyup. I like the current spawn rates overall (even though it is very luck base, sometimes you just don't get Megans). My only problem is when I am doing Safer Seas sessions, the Kraken simply doesn't spawn at all even though it should be allowed to spawn on Safer Seas.
