Community-Focused Play-Testing

  • This update sucks, and it’s not because of the content; It’s because there are currently so many bugs that the game feels almost broken beyond repair. Cosmetics can’t be bought, commendations won’t track, pirates can get soft-locked, everything about this update has been plagued with game-breaking glitches.

So instead of letting Rare and the development team do the play-testing, the community finds the problems. Insiders has this idea on paper, but people rarely play it to better the health of the game and only use it for cosmetics and TDM. So to increase motivation to try new features, Insiders should have exclusive rewards (not just the current ones) for players who test the newest features, report bugs and possible exploits, and improve the health of the update before it hits the official game.

With the new update already in the works, I am not looking forward to what they add. I can already smell how underwhelming and buggy it will be, but I think if you give the community cooler cosmetics and bigger rewards for the updates, it could really improve the game.

    First time?

  • @burnbacon
Yea I started back up in season 14 so i missed the really bad bugs, but after that it was poo poo content and bugs, this is just bugs.

  • Exclusive better rewards? Lol.

How about - you test and report so it gets fixed if they missed it, so you don't have to cry on forums after every single patch is released. There's your motivation and reward 😂

Let's not pretend this is nothing more than an ego trip for people to flash their exclusive cosmetics while bumping their chest and yapping how Rare listened to their very sherlocky report. But if Rare's "you're a good boy" badge is what people need to feel special for once in this not so huge community, it's kinda sad, but go for it I guess 😁

  • @r3vanns with is nice and all but we are all insiders in this topic and we all know how well Rare is processing reported bugs. So no one ever would received that super special outfits

I think that better way to help Devs with fixing game would be sending them like 5 witheboards so they cloud write down bugs.

LOL! With that I can agree xD A go-fund-me so Rare can afford a few whiteboards and pens. Cuz that Emporium spam is not making too much money, does it

On the topic itself - my point was, who cares about the game health or who's actually bothered with something, they'll report it anyways. With super special exclusive giga mega rewards, or without them.

Also, with such rewards or without them, Rare will not be faster (or slower) to check these reports. They'll still go through them (or not lol, as we've seen multiple times) on their own pace and according to their own priorities. 😅

Maybe I'm just way too ethical for my own good or bad, but I do not think that I should be specially rewarded for something I actually care about, and for something that I would do anyways.

Current reward system is more than enough. And the real reward is seeing a bug patched out.

  • Please avoid engaging in personal arguments and derailing the topic of the thread. It is fine to debate the content of the post, and the viewpoints therein, but disrespecting any of your fellow pirates personally is against the pirate code, and our forum rules.

Several posts have been removed accordingly.

  • Well back to what I was saying, since "ego-tripping" is such an obvious (and terrible) edition to the game, make people actually WORK for the trip and improve the game's health by reporting bugs and glitches, they did it with charity sails (sails of hope and the other ones).

    #FreeSOT btw

  • Well, if you joined Insiders for the Rewards, that on you and the future of the games health.
Add more rewards wont make a change, just more people joining just for them.

and if they some how make it so you actually have to "test" to unlock. Nobody will :P Since most the new stuff they are requesting be tested requires Player interaction, but as comments suggest. Cant find anyone. The data for this update is a hit and miss.

  • The only thing I'd change is add a public facing bug tracking system, similar to Arma 3 Feedback Tracker or Github Issues where you can create a bug report, have other users add information that might help tracking it down, and follow bug status (working on, need more info, will not fix, etc...).

That would be more useful that just throwing cosmetics at the problem.

  • @Swagalisous7451 it will not work because main reason why so much bugs are hitting live is not insiders not reporting it but hows Rare poorly or never going through reports.

I remember one dude that has mentioned same bug for few times only to see how said bug landed in live.
