The Shrouded Ghost rate needs to change

  • When I was a clueless new player, I saw the Shrouded Ghost off Marauder's Arch on my way to the Shores of Gold. It had the different music and everything

Clueless, ignorant to the fact that the white shark had a peach fin, and used to visual bugs, I somehow convinced myself it was a Crested Queen. This was stupid, but not as irritating as the fact that I have played 5000 hours since and killed thousands of megs since, often revolving whole play sessions around farming megs (probably hundreds of hours), but have never seen it again one time since outside of the event where it didn't count for the comm.

Do you have any idea how irritating this is? I have every other commendation in the game. I'm not saying getting a Shrouded Ghost should be as easy as it is to get an Umber Splashtail, but it should at least be something someone with the necessary motivation could do within a human timeframe.

I mean spooky Halloween time is here. Maybe use that as an excuse to give people an actual opportunity to find it in the wild?

    No it doesnt.

As a new player, why would you pass up fighting a beast and the loot it gave?

Do you have any idea how irritating this is?

Been playing since Actually D1 and never ONCE seen the creature. So....but it one of the only top reasons for me to play. If and when I ever do get it...idk what my next big goal is.

  • Just keep it super rare. That is what keeps it so magical. If everyone could get the kill, it would loose its magic. ;)

  • Me I have just over 6000 hours in game from day 1 release and about 4 weeks ago I finally got a Shrouded to spawn between Devils Ridge and Thieves only for it to despawn on me after I hit it 5 or 6 times then within seconds of it despawning I realized a Fire meg had entered into my area and must have caused a glitch.
I have reduced my in game time these past few weeks as a result of the anger that overcame me for a while.

  • Also the megs used to at least come once an hour, but now they take WAY longer. why make it worse?

  • @ghostfire1981 its not magical if what happened to the guy below can happen to you. thats not magical thats just obnoxious. 1 out of 200 megs is plenty special, i promise bro

  • @burnbacon 1) non-responsive
    2) because even after a couple dozen hours of playing i became aware of the fact that meg loot was trash. and i was busy doing something else
    3) If the reason you have to play something is a random number generator that can fail you every time you play for 5000 hours, that says something poor about the quality of the reasons to play

  • The Shrouded Ghost rate needs to change

No it doesn’t. The legend and tales it brings from players would be watered down so much if it became common. No thank you, keep it as rare as it is!

  • @zaleravon ^^ exactly same for me... day one player , 7k hours, game is close... alls commendations, collectibles... never see that white shark :p

  • No, it doesn't. The point is to be special. Ever read the book Moby D!ck? Sometimes a thing becomes your white whale. If the rate was increased it wouldn't be special. In the beginning, they didn't even actually tell you it existed. People fought and killed the shrouded ghost before it was ever admitted to exist. "Whispers of a white beast" was meant to be the start of revealing the shrouded to people. It was always meant to be rarer than rare.

Yes it is. You have at least seen it, and now have a tale to tell about it. If the white shark was a more common, no one would talk about it. Or make posts about it. The very fact that you (and we) are here talking about it, means its just as rare as it should be.

  • The reason you want it is because it's rare

  • @heslashthem this is ridiculous. The amount of "magic" or how "special" something is doesn't magically go up the more rare you make something. It's a bell curve.

Too common and it doesn't matter. Too rare and people will treat it as if it doesn't exist and not care about finding it

A rational person can recognize there is a happy medium

  • @celuikilisaecon or even worse, SEE IT and then something happens and it despawns. It's a stupid design by people who dont understand what makes things special or magic. An adult realizes that just indefinitely increasing the rarity of something doesn't make it more and more special

  • @hiradc the reason why I might quit this game soon is because of the moronically tedious ceiling to half of these dumb comms, all but this one ive completed. There is nothing fun about trying to roll a one out of 5000. Also no its not, i want it because ive completed everything else, including stuff that was not rare to find, so...

  • @ghostfire1981 yes i have a tale to tell. a tale about i hate this game and how obnoxious it is. that a good thing?

  • @potatosord Guys I just had a change of heart. I actually think they should INCREASE the rarity to one out of every 500,000 so that it can be THAT much more special and magical for the 1 player who finds it in 10 years. It will definitely make so many more people care about it and talk about it and want to look for it too :)

  • @potatosord Also did YOU read Moby Dck? Did that captain seem like a happy guy to you??

I'm pretty sure they never adjusted the spawn rate for the Megans. They did for the Skevins in the current season for the Smuggler's stuff, but that doesn't matter since they both use their own timers... The normal Megan timer is once every 30 to 120 minutes... So sometimes, you can get them hourly. Others, not.

We have the happy medium already :)

  • Shrouded Ghost is like last drop of magic in stallnes that SoT evolved into.
    Dont't change it pleace.

Also no sane adult run to Eurojackpot (or eny other big lottery in yours region) and demand change of rules just becouse he wants to win :)

  • @zaleravon

I can tell you never played a game. Achieve something majority of the playerbase haven’t and “show off”

Good old days of WoW or any grind like multiplayer game. Maybe that one game where it has a single achievement which to some is “impossible” to do but it’s been done. You become a legend in your own story for others to talk about

Like the legends ingame itself. They achieved something now there names are ingame.
