Emporium Suggestion/Feedback - Introduce a [small] discount for Bundles/Sets when an item is already owned

  • The Emporium can be a pretty heated discussion point in the community, but I wanted to put forward this suggestion which would be consumer friendly and make the Pirate Emporium twitch drops make a lot more sense, or when Rare go back and add more items to existing sets, to expand weaponry or what not.

Ignoring the current main issue with the emporium I think this is the second largest issue that could be resolved in the manner I put forward here or in a similar way.

When purchasing individual items in the Emporium, there should be a small, proportional discount based on however they calculate sets (minusing the ones laready owned) to reflect the remaining unowned items being purchased, rather than a the price remaining the same.

So, for example if you were to buy a hull from a ship set bundle, and then decide to buy the whole set, you wouldn't waste on Ancient Coins due to that discount.

This also help alleviate issues when new items are added to a bundle, or weapons set, when the team decide to introduce expanded weaponry items, meaning that players would pay a fairer price for the whole bundle rather than having to buy the whole thing again [or for an increased bundle price due to more weaponry].

This could also make 'big bundles' more worthwhile for users if they already own part of it, as they would be paying for the parts they don't own, rather than the whole offering.

Right now with the new Twitch Drops system [I need to leave feedback about that on another day] Pirate Emporium items are being offered, which means that people who claim these items are effectively wasting ancient coins if they do end up to decide the full bundle/set.

(The above is presuming the drop campaign doesn't end up covering the full set, and presuming the large majority of people won't watch the full six hours for the emporium items.)

I'd be interested to see what your thoughts are on this suggestion/feedback. Do you think there should be a discount applied to bundles/sets when you buy an individual item from that bundle/set?

  • I honestly don't know why this isn't already a thing, it should be common sense to make a bundle cheaper if the buyer already own one of the items. The way it is now is just a waste of ancient coins.

  • @ablepirate it should be treated as if that item wasn't in the bundle, that's how other games i play (and steam store) does it.
So the formula should go like this:
    (item1+item2+item3...)*discount

If you already own, for example, item3, then it would be (item1+item2)*discount

  • @captain-knyt Agreed

  • @ablepirate

Why this isn't already happening boggles my mind.

  • @captain-knyt exactly

  • Makes sense

  • If you buy something and then later there is a bundle, you absolutely should get a discount proportional to what you bought.

  • Small things like this would make me warm up to the idea of buying Emporium items again.

Probably not supported by the underlying store (Microsoft).

Steam didn't originally support this either, and all game stores lag behind Steam in features.
