These new Smugglers Black Powder Barrels are too powerful, and way too common. I did 3 golden vaults on Fetchers Rest then as soon as i left the island (i mean not even 30 seconds after i dropped sails), i had a skeleton sloop and a megalodon both spawn on me at the same time, ordinarily i could handle this with ease (note; I am a solo slooper), however after i sunk the sloop I was bitten by the meg which sent my boat flying into the skeleton sloops loot pile, thus triggering the 3 Smugglers Black Powder Barrels that the sloop dropped, to explode killing me instantly and leaving me no chance to try and save my boat when i re-spawn, it wouldn't have mattered if i hadn't died anyway as 3 of these new Smugglers Black Powder Barrels sinks a sloop in about 10 seconds. So, Rare, you either need to make the Smugglers Black Powder Barrels less powerful, or far less common. Not to mention that as soon as i re-spawned and got on my fresh spawn boat, I was only 3 tiles away, but it server merged me and deleted all of my loot that was in the water, i was a grade 5 gold hoarder and what i had on my boat was probably worth at least 500K - 1 Million gold, plus about 50 doubloons, as I had already sunk another skeleton sloop and killed a megalodon, and had that loot on board, as well as approximately 5 smugglers loot stashes on the shores, not including the Smugglers Black Powder Barrels as i avoid them at all costs. All in all, I was grinding for about 3 hours just to lose everything because Rare doesn't know how to balance new items! You need to fix this ASAP Rare as I am sure that if this happens to a newer player then they will just quit immediately and never play this game again.
Smugglers Black Powder Barrels Are Too OP And Too Common!!!!
@burnbacon Except for the fact that there is a smugglers voyage where you can always get an unlimited number of them for free, that you can start from your map table.
Just unfortunate circumstances.
PvE can troll.
Today I finished the skelly fleet, final galleon did not drop the fleet loot - just standard sloop loot. Maybe it was out of bounds or too close to the bug hole at Sea Dogs.
A nuclear sloop spawned as soon as the galleon sank to grief me in attempting to claim my pitiful reward.
Another player sloop came along as I was attempting to repair/collect loot/sink the nuclear sloop, claiming to be friendly.
I never found out cos I ran into bird kegs that sploded my 2 black kegs I had on the bow sprit.
Bye Bye Grade V flag and 2 hours of loot.
Unsure if the other sloop was included in the mushroom cloud as I'm sure they had kegs on the bowsprit also and meant I did not trust their intentions. These black kegs are a good addition for solo sloopers, PvE needs to be dialled back though.
All smuggler loot will be dialled back after this Season - Black Keg potency should remain however.
The fact that they're so powerful is - in itself - why it's a new tool.
If it wasn't exponentially more powerful than the regular or stronghold kegs, it wouldn't be worth anything. That's also why it sells for as much as a tier-two raid reward. Also, the smuggler loot gets much rarer after season 17 passes. That's how all season content has been.
And remember, any tool that is used against you can also be used against other people. You can kill megs, ashen lords, players, practically anything if you have the dedication and take the risk and carry these things. It goes both ways, and you can either always be on the side that sees it used against them or choose to be on the side that utilizes it against your enemies equally as often.
If kegs are super easy for your enemies to get, they're just as easy for you to get.

@burnbacon are you looking? I throw at least 30 away per session.
And how many people will go out of their way to accumulate that many after the season ends?
A negligible amount.@thor-von-blitz ummmmm I think you didn’t read what I was responding to….
I throw 30 TRAPS away a session not barrels.
Can you get a ton of Black powder barrels? Ya….. but keep them below deck and a meg bite makes them go off. Crows nest? Target for other players…. It’s pretty high risk to have them on your ship. They are fun and a great equalizer for a solo slipper fighting a galleon.

I must say that they fun addition...
Yeah I agree with this.
Last night our crew finished the mission, off to sell the final painting. Skelly gally pops up right next to us, we cannon it, BOOOOOOM! And we sink before anyone respawns.
Brutal.@smuntface same story after whole evening of looting, shooting and sending folks to Davy Jones Locker.
They give much of old keg vibe when their usage was more common.
