We need more customization options for the ship. Sea of thieves has gone on for at least 7 years, and there has almost been no improvements on ship cosmetics (other than trinkets and optimizations). Even the pirate emporium which is suppose to provide a Premium ship set does not have anything better than what is provided for free in-game (except the pirates of the Caribbean sails and figurehead, they are pretty cool.).
Literally just a hull recolor and a 4x4 painted sails is the best you can offer, which is horrendous.
Customization need to expand. We need to be able to buy or unlock different hull, lantern, mast, or ship nose models. There is already a couple of good examples from existing ship in-game such as:
Ferry of the Damned
Comes with a unique hull that doesn't look like a splotch of paint, a unique mast with a unique way of maintaining the sail, Lantern of the Damned-style lanterns, and a unique ship nose.
Monkey Island's Headless Monkey Ghost Ship
Comes with a unique sail that actually resembles a ghost/undead ship instead of a 4x4 splotch we got in the emporium. Ignore the cannon named chase though. in this scenario, we pretend that never exist.
also it GLOWS.
The mast glows, the sail glows, the whole hull glows with gross incandescence. wouldn't it be cool if you could get a green glow or even a yellow glow for those who wants to find their own sun?

Look at them, they got a unique variant of the hull, masts and sails, nose and even the figureheads.
The hull doesn't look like a kid played with green and brown paint, but looks like an actual hammered guano - complete with Jerry-rigged planks splattered everywhere. The sail is also unique because its powered by hopes and dreams.
Maybe in a player ship, the sails can be extended so it can block similar amount of sight lines or maybe more , and remove / change the extended platforms into something more open so it will be similar to a regular ship and it would be perfect.
...and much more! there's the Captain of the Damned ghost ships, regular ghost ships, the variant you find in Legend of the Veil, Coral-infested Silver blade you find in the Siren Tall Tale, etc.
Having these new ship customization will not only unlock many new possibilities of player self-expressions instead of snake icon.png sail and totally original black and white hull that you see for the nth time, this would also massively expand on Pirate Emporium ship cosmetics.
Because let's be real - the ship section in the pirate emporium sucks (unless its Pirates of the Caribbean / Monkey Island / That red/blue skeleton captain / constellation-style ship set).
