Damned Arena – Monthly PvP Event

  • Ahoy! I’ve had this idea for a while, ever since the Sea Forts was added and that one PVP-PVE Adventure in the Sea of the Damned where we could instantly respawn. I remembered it recently and thought, why not share it here to see if others like the idea?

That instant respawn combat really helped me improve my PvP skills because it was fast-paced pirate fighting—no downtime waiting to come back, just constant action when the event was running.

    The Idea:
Imagine a large, maze-like sea fort full of rooms and hallways—kind of like GoldenEye multiplayer. Players fight on foot inside this fort, no ships allowed. The fort would be its own dedicated server with more player slots possible since no ships take up resources or water physics taking up resources.

When you die, no ferry waiting—you just instantly respawn at a random spot inside the fort, keeping combat flowing.

The player with the most kills is declared the winner and is teleported into a random Adventure server, spawning near a ghostly shipwreck filled with rare loot. That shipwreck’s location appears on everyone’s map, so others have a chance to intercept and steal the loot.

    Why One Weekend per Month?

    • Builds hype and keeps the event feeling fresh
    • Gives the devs a clear window to monitor PvP behavior and test backend systems, especially with lots of players fighting close together
    • Helps improve the game by stress testing combat and spawning mechanics
    • Makes the event loot feel special and rare, instead of farmed all the time

And so the sweatiest and best sea of thieves players always triumph, leaving little for the rest of the population.

Well, it’s a PvP event—so anyone joining should know what they’re getting themselves into. If after a couple of rounds in a fast-paced PvP mode you’re still struggling, I’d honestly just recommend sticking to PvE. Not every mode has to be for everyone.

That said, I was bad at PvP too. I mostly stuck to PvE until that PvP–PvE Adventure (Hunter's Cry i think it was called) a couple of years ago. It actually helped me a lot—we’d just fight whoever was up for it and let the others do the event. That kind of setup really improved my PvP, and I think a mode like this could help others in the same way.

  • I imagine there will be a bunch of events like this once custom servers roll out, minus the maze like fort idea.

But instant respawn TDMs will probably be really popular.

  • I think this is a cool idea or I think maybe some sort of altered land mass with trenches and cannons setup facing eachother would be nice, a skelly camp and mini phantom fort on the same island where you pick servants or guardians and spawn in on that team and its more like a team deathmatch or capture the flag and not a free for all, then the winning team just gets rep like hourglass, land hourglass mode, maybe there's an hourglass on the athena/reaper table where you queue for ii

  • @uluckyhitreg So after the first two times they run it the playerbase will know its full of sweats and then the event dies out because no one does it anymore.

Yeah exactly, it doesn’t have to be a fort. Just removing ships, full map streaming, and water physics would free up a lot of resources. It could probably support 50 to 90 players depending on the setup. This kind of mode could open the door to fast-paced formats like team deathmatch, capture the flag, land-based Hourglass battles, or even a Hyrule Warriors-style mode where teams race to wipe out waves of phantoms before time runs out or clear them all like a massive fort fight.

If it was a limited-time event, it would stay fresh, help avoid burnout, and stop people from farming it all at once and then saying there’s nothing left to do. It also gives players who say there’s nothing to log in for something to jump into between updates. Loads of potential here.
