Paid private servers like fallout1st

  • Fallout 76, a game made by the same Microsoft subsidiary as this game,
allows you to create a server for just you and your friends by paying a monthly fee.

I understand that in this game too,
only the most dedicated and popular pirates are given their own servers.

But I still want the right to create a private server for a monthly fee.

I play this game in Japan, a region with so few players that it's even mentioned officially.

Even the most dedicated and famous players of this game in Japan do not have the right to create private servers.

And if a popular Japanese player who doesn't know this game yet wants to hold an event and make it more popular, that wish won't come true under the current conditions for creating a private server.

I think it would be great if anyone could hold an event where they could have fun with many friends,
rather than aiming to win easy money or prizes. If there is a fee for that, I would be happy to pay.

  • Anything that would get pirates off the common seas would just make the game feel more empty. So many players already complain about how empty the game feels after dives were introduced.

  • Fallout 76 is not made by Rare.

  • Yes, they are different companies, but they are the same in the sense that they are making games under Microsoft.

  • Earn no experience and unlock nothing.
    Yes play private

  • @burnbacon Honestly, even making it 0 rep and 0 gold isn't gonna fix the fact that it will take players out of the common servers, making the game just more empty always.

Even though there might be less players on the regular Adventure servers and there might be less such servers active, it wouldn't change much about the population per server. Only when there are only a handful active servers in a region to begin with and they can't fill a server because of server restrictions (e.g. extreme case if in the early morning 40 players all want to play on a full galleon, would mean 5 servers with 2 crews each).

  • @lem0n-curry You paint an unlikely scenario as if its the most common case, most players are on sloops, galleons are much more rare.

Yes I did - I know (note I used the words "extreme case"), and thus if there are only 40 players but in mostly sloops, a few brigs and a galleon, they would be on 3-4 full servers.

Now if some of these people also would vote for Hourglass, they probably will fight each other again and again - if at all (or in other regions).

  • ironically there are discords where people pay via patreon to cut in line in order to get on private pve servers because rare refuses to add proper pve support. this has opened the door for people to financially exploit the community while rare themselves lose out on the potential profit from the swell of players pve servers would bring.

  • Thank you Rare,
the paid custom servers you'll be implementing in early 2026 are exactly what I wanted.

In Japan, streamers always plan large-scale events using custom servers for various games,
which encourages many streamers to jump on new games, and viewers who see them also jump on them.

A previous GTA custom server event hosted by Japanese streamers ranked highly in the world for viewers on Twitch, and sales on Steam also soared.

I am once again grateful that this has increased the likelihood that many Japanese people will jump into this sea of Thieves.

If players are paying a monthly subscription to their private server, this whole thing is backwards then. Play the free version of the game, achievements count, but not in the subscription model? How is that fair to those who pay money?

Those who pay money for a subscription can play with adjusted settings; no gold, commendations &c makes perfect sense.

You say this like having the subscription some how makes you unable to play the part of the game where you earn Achievements and Commendations, where the reality is you pay for the subscription service to have additional things on top of that part of the game. You still have it so they are not preventing you from that experience by paying, they are giving you additional different experiences for the price tag.

Also, there is no free version of the game to be clear. You either buy it or pay for a subscription that it is a part of (Gamepass, etc), no version of the game is strictly free.
