The ability to disable cross-region in the hourglass

  • I played in my local region(ping 90-110), as I understand it, won a couple of battles, then got caught in another region where the ping was 35-50ms higher than usual, jumped several times to 395ms.

I don't want to play hourglass with such an unstable connection. I'd rather not find opponents or wait longer than I would to lose streaks in unstable regions for me.

The opponents are faster, it's a good idea of yours. But have you thought about the quality? Anyone who wants to play with this connection is welcome. But I would like to disable it.

  • I am on the east coast of the USA with poor internet. My main sailing buddy is back in NZ. Despite having 160 and 300 ping we win most of our matches through good team work but I do feel your pain as ping does cause a butch of our losses. I would think a better solution is a ping cap instead.

  • Absolutely support this. Especially for people who wanna try for higher streaks.

Without such a feature (to opt-out of cross region) I see things easily going wild.

And to be even more honest, even without cross-region MM, I don't understand why this isn't already implemented. I've seen tons of posts especially from middle-east/south-east people having ping issues due to sometimes being sent to servers further away from their usual ones.

  • I'm sure they will be monitoring performance here to see how this lands. Personally im eu and duo with someone from nae so one of us is generally laggy, and i think I would struggle if we end up central or na West but I think i would rather get the games.

  • They should stay region specific.

NA West, Central, East all can queue each other

EU all of EU (i'm not sure how this one works I live in NA)

Being forced to have a jump in ping and remember, now you are on those stamps going forward, is going to be miserable.

I see the reasoning why they will likely not change anything. People can loss farm on dead stamps and now this should resolve that. This will also make sure queues are still happening for the most part.

  • Yep, im usually on 50-70 ping on OCE, but when a SEA fight occurs, I get shot up all the way to 250-300 ping. It just makes the fight annoying and hard to play. Would love for there to be an option to disable it

  • @zuko4765 Couldn't agree more, what a bad experience.

  • @zuko4765, fully support this

  • 100% this. If I had the choice between a longer wait time to fight someone in my own region, or a faster match with higher ping, I would pick the wait every time. I play on cloud due to my PC being old, so there is already an inherent ping advantage for my enemies, but matching people from other regions makes matches flat out unplayable.
