Black Powder Merchant and Merchant Forager

  • Hello,

there are a few post like this but I still want to draw attention to this.

As someone who got 100% on Fortnite and is currently sitting at 98% in Sea of Thieves (both take 1,000+ hours to complete) I feel like those 2 trophies are really a pain in the a...
With every trophy you can make decent daily progress but for those 2 the rng is really awfull. Also the fact that we Playstation player not even had the chance to buy those quest makes it really unfair. Those Quest were removed and no one thought to adjust those 2 trophies bc of that.

Season 17 feels like the right time to fix those 2 trophies.

So pls for the love of god change something in regards to this.

Even a small change would help a lot. For example: Just remove the skeleton captain hunt and treasure chest quest and make it so only gunpowder, wood, fruit and cannon spawn from those bottles/journals.

  • Unfortunately, it's really frustrating!

I also opened a forum post about the problem at the turn of the year. Since these 6 months, a total of 8 Gunpowder barrels have been added. I take almost every bottle post and secret journal I find....

I hope RARE changes this for Season 17...in the meantime ONLY 6 seasons have passed.
Currently you would have to sacrifice your job and your entire lifetime for these two achievements!!!

    Let's hope for the best!

Fruitcrate voyages weren't purchasable; keg quests were rng from high (?) level merchant quests of which you could only buy a limited number each day in-game.

    Your wrong about the kegs.
Nothing ever prevented you from buying as many animal voyages as you wanted.
(you could just start a new ship buy quests repeat as many times as you wanted)
Edit: I forgot about captaincy, with that you could buy up to 50 and if you used them up, you just buy more without any time limit.

With those voyages you could complete the 100 kegs within a few hours.
    How do i know that?
Every player i know that completed that commendation told me they did it that way.

Fruitcrate really never had a quest, but they are still much rarer than prior S11, for an unknown reason.
Same goes for cannonball- and woodcrates.

Rare should increase the spawnrate of the crate deliverys in messages in a bottle and mysterious journals.
And they should make it so every animal voyage has 1 keg, that would still make it way harder than it used to be, but thats at least reasonable as you have to do at least 150 animal quests anyway for merchant completion.

I wasn't sure if the kegs also appeared in the animal quests during Captaincy.

I'm having issues with posting - getting forbidden message - will update this post bit by bit ... (done now, don't know what caused it)

Starting up a new session or going through a few hundred voyages just to get a keg delivery doesn't sound fun gameplay to me (maybe that's why "everyone" thinks Merchant Alliance is boring ?), but to each their own; I primarily got them from shipwrecks and beachcombing - I know that's not everyone's cup of tea either 😃.

I just did them more organically - got the commendation around the same time I got the filling of 250 animal crates, so I got a couple of those combined quests, I'm sure.

Fruitcrate really never had a quest, but they are still much rarer than prior S11, for an unknown reason.

No more random quests in barrels at outposts, that would get you an average of about 1 fruit/wood/ball per outpost in the old days. Pick up crate, fill it on the outpost, sail to next outpost, deliver it and a large chance of finding another one to deliver at the starting outpost.

Same goes for cannonball- and woodcrates.

    Aye.

And they should make it so every animal voyage has 1 keg, that would still make it way harder than it used to be, but thats at least reasonable as you have to do at least 150 animal quests anyway for merchant completion.

A keg with each animal voyage ? That would make it not harder at all than previously (you would net get one with a multiple keg delivery in more than 1 in 10 AFAIK - it was pretty rare but you could have multiple kegs), just more annoying as it would be making a detour to a Fort for just one keg. It would be a tad more dangerous if you stock up on them and sell one per each delivery.
It's more akin to having a separate quest for kegs - as people who already did their number of voyages would just do the keg part.

As said before, the chance for getting one of these is way too low nowadays and could easily be handled by using the multiple quests in a bottle more for these.

  • I'm also stuck with this achievment :-(

I go out my way looking for them with every bottle found opened. Also using the other tactic of hunting mysterious journals.

All I keep getting is old school skeleton captain quests from mysterious journals and newer style voyages from bottles.

I haven't seen a single fruit crate quest in 6-9 months despite my large playtime.

I've more chance of seeing the Shrouded Ghost 😆

  • People have been asking for this ever since they butchered the chance to get these delivery quests more than a year ago. If Rare reads this forum at all they certainly know about it but clearly put it incredibly low on their priority fix list even though it can't be that complicated of a fix.

Removing quests from barrels and putting Kingly quests on bottles as increased the rarity of delivery quests a ton. Just make them as common as they used to be.

  • This needs to be addressed with the humble gifts and generous gifts as well as rag and bone crates. There just isn't a consistent way to get them anymore and you have to sell SO many, and even worse you have to sell stolen ones/gift them to other crews

Rag'n'Bone crates are on Forts;pick up the treasure map and dig it up.

  • @lem0n-curry And for selling stolen ones? How do I get other people to get them? No one cares about them when they take loot and because they only come from one event, no one ever has them naturally unless theyre super new to the game

I still dig them up, 5 doubloons is 5 doubloons :).

Don't people alliance anymore when doing a Fort ? Let the other crew dig the chest up and you turn it in.

Propose a trade ? Shoot yourself over to a crew doing a fort, ask ik you can get their R&B Crate for a Chest of Fortune (or perhaps something between the values)

IIRC it is only 10 stolen R&B Crates.

The point is not that its unachievable now.
The point is that it was way easier before season 11.
FoFs gave a lot of those chests, so it would only be fair to revert that change.

Same goes for merchant crates (of any kind), kegs, cargo and animals.

They've all become 10 times harder after the changes of season 11.

I was responding to the "There just isn't a consistent way to get them anymore" bit, and there is - even though it's only one RnB Crate per fort.

  • People have been saying this for years, I've got 3k hours in this game and I just RECENTLY, (like two days ago?) finished the fruit crates.

I dont want people so suffer through like I have, I've dove and picked up every bottle but its all whack.

Some people complain that since you can buy fruit, cannon and wood crates from merchants it makes it too easy. I disagree, for the pure fact you can just buy meet at any outpost for Hunter's Call commendations, and now with their new meg hunts, Megalodon meat is now also an on-demand resource. How is that fair to merchants?

I've proposed the idea before, to add these deliveries as part of merchant emissary quests, at which point they can't be spammed.

Devs just refuse to acknowledge this for some reason.

  • Yesterday i decided to do a dedicated session trying to find mysterious journals and picking up bottles. I ended up finding about 10 quest bottles and journals in 90 minutes time. Not one of them contained a quest to deliver kegs or fruit crates.

When will this insanity end? It's been more than a year and a half.
