In sitting here writing this post as a veteran and long time fan of Sea of Thieves and its community, I have nothing but love for this game and I only want to see it grow and improve. But for years now almost the entire community (including me) has been asking for one feature, 120 FoV. Rare and the forum mods have been blatantly ignoring and shutting down forum posts of fans simply asking for one simple accessibility feature. I know that Sea of Thieves was made for 90 FoV, and that increasing it can cause glaring issues. But its a simple fix and could be implemented in no time. Its also not a "PvP advantage" FoV is nothing but a preference, and I've heard no good arguments for why it is a "PvP advantage". FoV is nothing more than a preference and accessibility feature for those with motion sickness (including me). With tons of other accessibility features being added recently so everyone can enjoy the game, why is FoV the exception? (P.S Before my post closed by a mod for the reason: "But the game wasn't made to go past 90 FoV". Please escalate this so we the community can get the change we've always wanted)
120 FoV (why cant Rare listen to their own community)?

The "community" doesn't want this, nor devs. Only some of you.

"I know it's gonna look terrible and you probably can't fix it, but just "simply" fix it. Because I want it". Wow. xD
I've heard no good arguments for why it is a "PvP advantage"
I've heard no good arguments how it's not. And still haven't heard valid arguments for why should devs change their mind for a select few of you.
TL:DR - for purchasing a game before checking gameplay, and complaining about motion sickness, phobias, or whatever else afterward, and demanding something devs clearly stated over the years they won't change (and why) - if you can't take the heat, what are you doing in the kitchen? Time to get out.
If they do, it's only cause of their good will. You people here need to understand you're not entitled to anything. And posts like this got tiresome years ago.

Funny how headaches and motion sickness have become the go to reasoning people want this changed instead of them seeking medical professional help if it’s so severe.
Yeap. And the absolutely same narrative for phobias. "I'm not gonna work on my issues, instead I'll just demand that everybody else goes around them".
Still, I don't mind people politely asking for something. I'm in general supportive of accessibility. What's tiresome is the tone people use when asking for such changes/features. Almost always some attempt of emotional manipulation, and/or pity farming. Or just straight up acting entitled.
It's just exhausting.
Drew should never have made that meme tweet 🙄
The game has a fish-eye lense applied, you can see this slightly on the edge of the screen. Increasing the FOV makes it look terrible as a result and it's not going to help with motion sickness to warp the edges of your vision.
Motion sickness is more likely related to a lack of reticle (focal point). I'd rather they look at natively adding one and see how that works for folk.
@scaryarcher7629
Dude, they've replied again and again that the game was created for 90 and it's not going to change. Don't position yourself as some kind of spokesman for "the community". This isn't a burning issue that everyone's upset about. It's a niche problem that a handful of vocal people who can't come to terms with the fact that they're not getting their way keep complaining about. There's no "escalating" that's going to go on here. The DEVELOPERS of the game have unequivocally said NO and there's no "manager" you can ask for to try and get your way.
@r3vanns 1. Yes, ive been dealing with motion sickness for years but I just deal with it to enjoy the game I love. 2. Just because the entire community isn't asking, still doesn't mean the small fraction of players who ARE asking aren't part of the community. There have been tons of posts on this topic for years and it shows that a decent portion would like higher FoV. 3. A good reason why devs should change their mind is purely for those who want the option and those who NEED it, did you not read my post?? I know im not entitled to anything but for years this has been a big request, and I just wanted to leave my two cents and move on.

I don't know if your being sarcastic or not, but increasing your FoV DOES in fact help with motion sickness.
Motion sickness also isn't just related SOLELY to your eyes but your whole central nervous system.
So FoV IS in fact an accessibility feature that RARE have neglected. No but's or if's on that end.Idk why everyone who's against an increase if FoV magically think they know what they are talking about when they clearly do not.
Either way expecting an increase in FoV in this game is unrealistic, just as much as the Arena talk wanting it back etc.
RARE have made it clear, doubled down, tripled down 1000 times over...@rambobrad There was, they don't like how the game looks at that FoV and they aren't going to change it. I'm sure the mods copy and paste the gist of it every time they close one of these threads.
It doesn't matter what you or I or anyone else thinks, that's what they've decided.
The ability to modify FoV beyond the in-game limits was never intentional and has been removed in order to restore the intended settings of Sea of Thieves.
The game is designed for 90 FoV Maximum, anything beyond that looks distorted and broken.
There are no intentions to change this in future.
