Reduce The Burning Blade streak

  • I just find it slow to sail on the burning blade to get an 8 streak 10 times.

  • Then don’t do it?
Nobody forces you to do a world event.

  • I mean I just think it's a bit tedious. I mean I just do it for the commendations. Plus it's just a suggestion it's up to rare if they act on it or not.

  • The extreme exploiting got it off to a bad start, making it worse to turn in (if they do) is gonna really bring down the appeal of doing anything other than getting a cof from it.

They almost certainly are going to make it worse for organic play because of their view here "freely run and cash in at the reaper's hideout whilst in combat, this clearly is not an intended scenario". They are calling cashing in after a couple of hours of sailing around the map an unintended scenario, that will not end well for organic activity.

It's only going to get worse if that is how they see things, so lowering it would make more sense if they change it. Very very few are gonna sail around for a couple of hours just to be blocked at reapers by server hoppers. There are a lot better ways to spend a couple of hours of time, very few liked it when that's all reapers was, hoppers blocking the turn in and spamming attacks by spawning nearby and coming back while people are trying to sell.

Siren Song spawns are going to make it significantly worse as long as that is a thing.

The "ships are close" thing is obnoxious enough when trying to dive (loot is left behind anyway) just to get away from people that reset over and over again. Or just to pve dive. It'll be way more obnoxious after people defend and pve for a couple of hours and have to deal with it.

  • @wolfmanbush I may be wrong but I believe rare were referring to people claiming the burning blade and then running straight to reapers with out doing anything on it. That's the scenario I've come across multiple times and thought most other people had too

  • @wolfmanbush I still think a ship lock out is a bad thing tho, I'd much prefer a minimum ritual requirement instead

    People aren't hopping for zero.

They are hopping for higher numbers and then trying to get their win conditions catered to because people are getting it turned in.

Adding a 1 ritual requirement is fine but that is not what the streamers/partners/hoppers are yelling about. They want what they always want, Rare to pick their win conditions over the win conditions of others, rather than letting it play out organically and taking losses once in a while.

I've turned in around 70 cofs, been around probably 90+ BB's

I don't think I've seen one of them run the BB to reapers after taking it over. They've all went to the nearest skelly camp and started their grind. It happens, I don't deny that, but it hasn't been a part of my season at all and I've done quite a bit with it.

  • They should either lower it or make it so that player ships sunk also adds to the counter. Doing 8 uninterrupted already requires a hefty time investment, if you get ganked several times too it will draw out the session length to pretty crazy levels, which can turn a fun session into a slog where you just want to turn in, or worse, have to log off without turning in because of responsibilities. If sinking ships adds to the counter it will also give incentive for people to actually fight with the Blade.

  • yea and the fact they seemed to have punished people legitimately farming out 10 streaks of 8 because it rewards too high an emissary value got egg on their face. like you have a commendation tied to an achievement to do this grind so people who did get punished... i dont think they have ever looked at emissary ledgers either because the 1st hour of every month some stacker has a ship with 34 MILLION ledger value to hand in the second the month rolls so they can be on top.

i think the fact my guild just farmed the 8 streaks in like 2 days and that put us at a high ledger value so we lost levels because of it... kinda crazy. it took 2 hours per 8 streak we certainly werent exploiting. and we sold 1 blade with a 1 streak on it. we were the only ones in the guild who have played at in that guild

Did you go through support and have them look into it?

  • @wolfmanbush yes and even told them we didnt want the reputation or money back we just wanted them to be aware that whatever they used to determine who was cheating and wasnt obviously used a flawed metric. honestly the only solution we could come up with is the only method they could use to determine excessive gains is the ledger board based off some number they came up with as being what is likely the average obtainable ledger value for the length the season was out. hense the claim on the youtube video that 20+k people had been exploiting. they clearly cant track how high the streaks were. what temples the streaks came from, how long it took to obtain... so emissary value was the only metric they could use to determine who wasnt and wasnt cheated. and since they have abandoned adding ledger rewards i dont think they have ever noticed how many people no-life the leader boards the start of every month. its nothing new to see in the first few hours even to have people destroy the leader boards. alliance servers have been killing that for years.

but despite telling support we didnt want the rep back just making the developers aware they just gave the dismissing copy pasted response that people were cheating and unfair exp was removed and the decision is final..... i didnt ask if it was final. i dont care it was final... i want them to learn from their mistake that some people go a bit harder at the game and commendation grinding than others and its totally legit that people can farm whatever value we had that got us punished. ALL we did was 10 streaks of 8 and that was enough to be too high to warrant a level reduction

and hearing that lvl 1000 guilds who have been 1000 for seasons now also got level reduction because of the burning blade..... its just silly

  • Agreed. 8-streak takes between 2-3hrs to do and the puzzles themselves are the same over and over again. Should've been a 1-time commendation. "PvP" event but no PvP involved, just sailing back and fourth, gets stale and un-eventful quite fast.

  • Ngl the only people that complain about reducing it are the people who got it from exploiting it before it got removed

  • @deedeedog5 some commendations and skins are meant to be hard

  • @lt-josh84 It's not hard it's just tedious with sailing for ages it's not even pvp anymore

  • It should be 6, not 8. There are 6 camps. I don't see why they'd want you to do some camps twice, especially since "lore wise" they'd only be doing the ritual at each camp once.

  • yea if they would hard cap things with streaks like this it would have prevented the whole exploit business in the first place. especially if they were going to consider 8 streak, 10 times in 48 hours to be cheating

in the very least they should have looked at the fact they had a commendation to hand in 10 streaks of 8 and put the threshold above that. yea im a bit salty. more about being grouped in with bad actors, essentially falsely accused of doing wrong just for grinding too hard. support kept ignoring the fact that i said 3x per response that i didnt want a roll back. it was a matter of principle that i just wanted the devs to know they set the bar too low and didnt account for people who play like i do. falsely accusing people of cheating and punishing them for playing the game how they have played for 5 years just created some ptsd. i guess lesson learned. dont pull allnighter sessions at the start of a season because they dont have ways to track actual in game data all they could look at was a leader board now the actual streak counts or handin values.

  • Completely agree…I completed 5 solo, had two 8- streaks taken by galleys, an additional one I did not get credit for (no idea why) and yesterday I beached the BB at reapers and by the time I sunk an enemy ship-which was fast… the BB de-spawned…wow so angry! Have 5, lost 2, magically lost 2 others. Absolutely a completionist, but I am considering just dropping this one…not enjoyable to sail into the wind most of the time while going to 8 skeleton camps….can do the camp in 2-3 minutes but it still takes about two hours IF you are not attacked. PLEASE RARE consider reducing the number!!!

  • Classic Rare move to not update something despite multiple voices and opinions asking for change. I was lucky enough to complete this commendation just after they made the change so the majority of my turn ins didn't require a completely clear Reapers Hideout. I agree with some of the other sentiments that sinking any crew that attacks the Burning Blade should count towards the ritual (or make the next ritual count for x2). I also think that sinking any crew that attacks the burning blade should immediately send them to another server just like Hourglass. That would keep things pretty fresh for the burning blade and give them some breathing room while still encouraging them to fight.
