Not Fun

  • Unfortunately as a PS5 user I am considering quitting this game altogether. Let me explain why:

Was running Order Bone/Blade. Had a suspicious crew member. Xbox user. Eventually he set fire to the Galleon. When we started to put it out he hopped on the water barrel and just stood there, purposely blocking any water from entering the barrel. Was brigged. Then magically he started spamming "Enemy Here" and a Galleon conveniently showed up, sunk the ship to take all the cargo. The other crew member disconnected and my hour worth or work was down the drain in less than 10 minutes.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened. He scouted the Galleon, radioed his buddies, they got the loot. The griefing is out of control in this game. It's sad really that people like this, even in a group, get together to ruin it for the rest of us.

I am actually upset I have to deal with this type of issue. It's common. The cheating/griefing is rampant. Why would I play this game or even recommend it? It's not fun when you have someone connecting to crews, radioing his buddies, they magically show up and that's it.

  • I would say open crew is the issue here. Try lfgs or discords to find like minded pirates and should have a much easier time.

Open Crew was not the issue. This was a coordinated effort. This was someone scouting for loot, radioing his buddies what world events were on the server, them hopping until they found the right one. This is much more than Open Crew. This is downright disgusting behavior that is being allowed in Sea of Thieves. It is extremely common as well.

My feedback is the game is poor, not due to design or playability, but by the lack of holding players/groups accountable for actions that are blatant griefing. This is a bannable offense in any other game, and it's an injustice to the player base to allow such behaviour. If I wasn't out of my term I would completely request a refund. Again, this is common behavior. I have seen this exact thing more than once.

  • @cpt-jackmaro I think it’s just a coincidence

  • @cpt-jackmaro

How was that NOT the issue? you playing with random people through open crew and find someone abusing it.
My guess is that they saw they could join off you through Recent Players and one did so, then sabotaged while his actual crew rolled in. I don't support it but open was 100% the issue here OR it was simply a griefer that was messing with you and someone coincidentally rolled up on you at that moment.

Play through the official Discord to avoid it in the future

  • @cpt-jackmaro hopping to find a specific server is a lot more difficult than you're implying. I'm not saying that what happened didn't suck, I am simply saying it is not the widespread pandemic issue that you are assuming from one instance (not even sure he would be linked to the other crew in any way).

At a guess a troll crewmate noticed this incoming other crew that you had missed and they had absolutely nothing to do with each other. You have fabricated this extensive link based on absolutely no evidence.

You got trolled by open crew, then attacked by a different ship. Fixed your story

  • Anyone who says "Open Crew" is the problem, you missed the point entirely. It's not "Open Crew", it's the player base that is not getting banned, whether temporary or permanent. This toxicity is commonplace, why?

    Because a lack of ENFORCEMENT.

Anyone who says "Open Crew", you have missed the point entirely

  • @hiradc

You weren't there. You are the one fabricating a scenario. Wow!

Absolutely what I said occured and it does occur. I was playing the opposite of peak hours, as a matter of fact the server was virtually empty.

You are the one who has fabricated a scenario based upon your assumption that server hopping during the hours where there aren't many people on is not feasible.

  • When we started to put it out he hopped on the water barrel and just stood there, purposely blocking any water from entering the barrel

I tried this to see and I can’t figure how they jumped/hopped on the barrel….
And even without the barrel. There a giant pool of sea water. :/

Besides being a snobby player. “Enemy here” and suddenly a galleon appeared.
Claiming it was “radio” in attack is silly and just random.

It frankly is open crew issue and both player.
But you could have prevented it by closing the crew.

  • @burnbacon

    Wow. This reply. Wow.

Hop on the barrel means, he activated it. Much like saying "Hey pal, hop on cannons and defend the ship"

Furthermore, it's not an "Open Crew" issue, it's a toxicity griefing issue that stems from LACK OF ENFORCEMENT.

Wow, just wow, at your reply.

  • You didn't say how this person managed to be on your ship.. did they join your ship or did you join theirs?

If this person joined your ship, it's incredibly unlikely he already had friends on the same server. I can't think of a single reason why, if my friends and I managed to get 2 ships on the same server, why'd I'd choose to leave.

If you joined his ship, it wouldn't make sense for it not to be allianced with his friends, which you would've noticed. Even then, it makes no sense for him to call his friends over to sink you, since it hurts him too.

Open crew is like this though. It's always a risk. If I had been you, the moment he started acting like he did, I would've recorded, left the ship, and reported him as they don't tolerate it.

  • Did you record and report any of this? Cause coming here to complain about it does nothing.

It does sound like the person in the brig died and met a crew on the ferry, told them where your boat was, and that’s what caused you to be attacked by a random ship. It happens.

Next time, record and report to support.

  • @cpt-jackmaro No I wasn't there. But I have enough experience in this game to be able to establish context.

You are a relatively new player (not saying this as an insult). You did not have a loot stacked ship worth server hopping specifically to find and attack. Every server at the moment has multiple ships doing these voyages. The extent of effort and coordination that you have assumed from this one encounter just isn't feasible or probable.

  • @Cpt-JackMaro If you believe a player has been toxic in the game or suspect foul-play, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support. As this is a matter for Support and not the Forums, I'll be dropping anchor here.
