Why is camping on people’s ships bannable and toxic?

  • Honestly, I don’t really understand why ship camping is considered bannable and toxic. Players have the option to scuttle, so it’s part of the game mechanics and a matter of skill. If someone gets camped, it’s more of a skill issue – knowing when to fight, when to run, and how to react. Banning it only limits strategic gameplay instead of encouraging players to improve. Some people also just want to train their aim or other skills, and this gets in the way. PvP is about dealing with tough situations, and that’s what makes the game interesting and fun. I don’t see much difference between camping and controlling space, which is a common tactic in many other competitive games – the goal is to maintain an advantage and prevent the enemy from regaining control. Players shouldn’t be punished for being effective.

  • I second this. When I get on a ship fresh spawn/open crew I check all hiding spots for tuckers and if they somehow evade me then they deserve to sink me or whatever there object is. Banning for being pirtaes in a pirate game that is all about stealing and being stealthy etc. Not cool

  • Poor sportsmanship.
Yes, we have scuttle and at that point they really should. But you aren’t doing anything yourself that is good behavior (which I think is part of the code)

  • It is a toxic offense because as it is stated in the Code: "Even the scurviest of the pirates have rules"

The act of camping ad nauseum, implicates the fact that a crew is in a better advantage and is exploiting that advantage, ruining the gaming experience for other players.

  • I'm pretty sure it's only toxic & bannable if you either don't try to sink them, or go out of your way to prevent them from sinking.
At that point, it goes from normal gameplay to toxic behavior. And rightfully so.

Yep, we had a crew a few weeks back they were keeping the boat alive by bailing and instantly killing us, they had instant weapon swap and aim assist. So both of those things made it no fun, normally you can get control of your boat back eventually by jumping around etc until all your crew is back, but this was near impossible.

They were not taking loot and kept telling us in game chat to quit playing the game.

It's best to just report players like this and let the support team handle it. I just record everything in game nowadays.

If they just killed us a couple times and sank and looted us there would be no issue. But the above went on for 10 minutes.

  • Outside of ensuring a boat sinks, there is no logical, reasonable, or 'strategic' reason to camp boats.

The old 'reason' used to be to collect their supplies, but since all boats drop their supplies when sunk, now, no viable reason.

Best bet to avoid being reported/possibly banned is....don't do it.
