So today I finally convinced one of my oldest and dearest friends to install Sea of Thieves and play it with me!
However they don't play any PvP whatsoever in any games they play because of a health condition that causes them to have seizures if they become too stressed (they have severe epilepsy).
But I told them about Safer Seas and explained to them how we could play the game together without any fear of any PvP whatsoever.
And we had a friggin BLAST! We played for a good 7-8 hours straight without stopping and didn't have any issues at all.
They've never played Sea Of Thieves before so I was focused on trying to teach them everything I know about this game XD
We did all of the tutorial voyages, and then we did a TON of other stuff and ended up with a MASSIVE amount of loot at the end.
We did a gold hoarder vault, a lost shipment, skeleton captains, skeleton lord, skeleton fleet world event, ashen winds world event, sunken treasury, plus whatever emergent skeleton sloops and megalodons that spawned during our voyage.
So by the time we were done we had A TON of loot. And I mean a literal ton XD.
And this is where we ran into the only thing that really made my friend dislike the game. Selling all of our loot.
Because we were in safer seas we weren't on a captained ship which meant we had to manually sell all of our loot to each of the corresponding vendors...
I'm not kidding it took us at least 25-30 minutes at Sanctuary outpost to sell all of the loot we had collected from our day of adventure.
My friend's hands started cramping after about 10 minutes of selling from repetitively hitting the same buttons over and over and over and over for so long.
They had to stop and take a break for a few minutes while I kept selling it was so bad.
They were like "why the heck haven't they added a person who you can just sell all of the loot too instead?" And then I explained how that already exists with the sovereign and showed them the sovereign tent and everything and explained how it was only available in High Seas with PvP enabled because you have to have a captained ship which you can't use in safer seas and my friend said "that's stupid AF" and I agreed XD.
They said everyone should be able to sell to the sovereign regardless of owning a captained ship or not because selling all of your loot at the end of your adventure without being able to sell it all to the sovereign is absolutely abysmal and I fully agreed because it truly is.
They said they understand the restrictions put in place for safer seas in order to keep players from staying in the game mode and never moving on to high seas, but at the same time they also said selling loot shouldn't be something you dread doing when you're done playing and I fully agreed.
So now I'm here making this post saying Rare seriously you need to make it so that everyone can sell loot to the sovereign regardless of what ship their using captained or not.
Especially for safer seas where you have no reason to stop playing and having fun to sell your loot until you're done playing for the day.
By the time we were ready to go sell we were already getting tired and worn out from playing so long and having to manually sell all of our loot to each of the vendors only amplified that and made it so much worse...
It was so bad that my friend said they don't think they're going to play SOT again because even though we had a ton of fun playing it just isn't worth it to end up hating getting the rewards for all of our hard work and effort we spent all day on.
So yeah I think you should change the sovereign to accept all loot from everyone regardless of them being on a captained ship or not because the sovereign was a VERY MUCH needed quality of life improvement that everyone deserves to have access to regardless of what game mode you're playing.
