Pirate Hideout Idea that could actually work.

  • I have seen multiple posts around this forum asking for a private island in which you can customize your house and meet with pirates from your guild.

I think that using a private place in the open world we all know won't work as it would break the game's idea of a session based gameplay.

However, How about if instead of loading into the menu we loaded into our Guild's Base? It would be a shared enviroment out from the Sea of Thieves in which you can meet with everyone from your guild and then choose there if you want to set sail into High Seas or Safe Seas.

Technically it might be a hard thing to build as it will change how the game loads (devs I believe in you), but could be a way to give players a hideout without changing the map.

The only issue I would find at the moment (apart from the loading times) would be how this could be hosted in terms of servers or local hosts.

I want to see how do you feel about this. Please post your feedback. Happy sailing.

  • I think the private island thing could work if it was in Safer Seas. Maybe like a portal can take you to it.

Not too fond of the idea but as long as it doesn’t get in the way of everything else, it should work.

Adding to this I don’t think you should be able to take your treasure with you if you are going through said portal.

  • @capt-pilotes i think this idea is good, though, i think a feature in it would allow you to be able to go in the same session as your guild members. Allowing you to either have a larger crew or set sail with more than one ship. This would be good for people with lots of friends and the developers could add a difference high seas server for guilds and guild battles so that solo players wouldn't be overrun by guilds with multiple ships.

  • @capt-pilotes I think it’s an awesome idea.

At the very least, a hideout you can access similar to the Athena Den.

You get a guild-specific key that allows access to the pirate hideout:

-Common area with update board to leave messages and announcements, keep pets
-Bar and Kitchen and stove tops for cooking
-Personal Bedrooms for trinkets and rewards/decor to customize and showcase
-Storage room for storing small amounts of shared supplies and fish (pocket carry items)
-Armory for weapons (perhaps even a space to TDM)

In the common area, a place for 1-4 to prepare a crew and exit to a server.

We need a reason to recruit people to guilds, bring them into social areas, keep them involved, allow them to showcase, and most importantly, make plans for your next session.

To add… Maybe a days at sea with guild rank board in the den? Games/activities to do while not on the server?

The devs could get creative again with how this works. Just please keep it pirate themed… I worry we are swaying into strange waters with all of these recent skin updates and such. Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones type inspiration.

  • I’ll add one… a place for customizable guild descriptions. Like:

    NA/EU etc
    Adult/Kids/only etc
    Console/PC focus etc

  • Guild bases vs pirate bases

Guild bases. You put in the work the most and after it’s perfect, you are kicked or removed. What happens to all that work?

Pirate bases seem to be best option for players.

Sure, the guild kicks you, you have still access to everything you purchased for it, and can bring it to the next guild, or start your own, they lose access to anything you contributed to in there.

Just like captained ships being pledged and trinkets, it's not that hard.
