Devil's Roar

  • Do people sail in the Devil's Roar or is it just an abandoned part of the map?

From my experience, besides completing some commendations and Tall Tales, I've started to ignore this zone of the map because damn, it is ANNOYING. Between the geisers activating shortly after you've put feet on the island and the volcanos having such and amazing targeting and being non-stop for some time, it just makes no sense going there to complete voyages even if you get more money from the ashen plunder.

Just the fact that they deactivated volcanos for a few days so people would go into that zone and complete voyages.... it says something about it. I think it needs a bit of a nerf, either by lowering the distance the volcano targets you or by making the chance of activation random, lowering the frequence of geisers... I don't know, something, but right now it's just a pain in the butt and for me, a zone to completely ignore.

  • I use it regularly for doing Athena voyages. Is a pain solo, but due sloop it's fine. Like the fact a lot of people avoid it as let's you get on with voyages.

  • @sideshowz1ggy

Yeah I also used to do that for the same reason, but since I tend to play solo it usually isn't worth the pain for me

  • The Roar should be tweaked to be more cool and less annoying. Geysers are supposed to be cool. Remove all the tiny geysers that follow you around, and put some big ones as non-moving features on Roar islands. You can still pull skellies into those to insta kill them, and if they hit a player it should launch you very high up.

Earthquakes serve no purpose other than to be annoying. Features that limit player movement in games has always been annoying and some developers steer clear of it entirely for that reason.

The volcanos are largely fine in my opinion, but maybe they should get another state other than on or off, which is on but the lava flows out slowly rather than exploding. It can explode for a bit at first, and then slow down so you don't have to watch your ship for as long, but it could create lava streams on the volcano island you have to jump over.

  • The reasons alone why you avoid it. Is the big reasons I spend most my time there.

Nobody else goes. It quiet, peaceful, and no real need to watch for pvp XD since why would they if also they could sink by volcano

  • Yep, I 100% agree. Devil's Roar has been neglected for far too long.

It feels separate and doesn't feel like it's part of the main map.

It really needs some attention and to be given some major reasons as to why you'd want to make the trip all the way out there, cause currently it just isn't worth it for most crews.

  • The only issue I have with the Roar is the fact that's it's neglected every season. No sea forts, no shrines/treasuries, no skeleton camps, no world events save the skellie fort that pops like three times a month.

It's a habitually abandoned part of the map and it's unfortunate that no effort goes into revamping it so that the area can be updated like the rest of the game.

Lava streams are honestly a very good idea and something I wish Rare took into consideration instead of only having volcanoes explode and damage any passing ships.
