  • @ferroushornet01 vote to remove the voyage, easy.

  • @ferroushornet01 Your post has been edited as it goes against the Forum Rules and Pirate Code.

    Circumventing the Forum Profanity Filter

A profanity filter is in place to support our commitment to our community to create the world’s friendliest multiplayer game. Topics and posts which attempt to circumvent the filter will be edited or deleted and the users involved warned. Ignoring the warning will result in a temporary ban from the Forums and a final warning. If the action continues, a permanent ban from the Forums will be issued.

Please read and abide by the Forum Rules and Pirate Code in future.

    Thank you.

  • @look-behind-you I don't see any profanity. I just see the word F with some stars next to it.

  • @ferroushornet01 ....which is the definition of bypassing filters...please don't.

  • @look-behind-you Self censorship is bypassing the filter? What pirate in history did not use these words

  • @ferroushornet01 You are not a Pirate, you are someone who is using a Forum that has agreed to the rules.

EDIT: There are words you could have used (or even none at all) in place of what was removed, that wouldn't constitute bypassing filters)

  • Or don’t use the mast as cover, switch weapons or make sure to vote to cancel.

Seriously players why are you avoiding this easy cash grab?

Also, use Flubber Duck instead of censoring yourself. XD

  • @burnbacon I have seen you a lot around here, do you ever say "Yeah you have a point, they should fix / change this". I have never seen you say that before, it's always something WE are doing wrong 😂

  • @tesiccl And it comes back. Take it off the ship and dump it in The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom section.

  • @ferroushornet01 remove it again then xD

  • Please avoid engaging in personal arguments and derailing the topic of the thread. It is fine to debate the content of the post, and the viewpoints therein, but disrespecting any of your fellow pirates personally is against the pirate code, and our forum rules.

  • @ferroushornet01 I still need them skulls

  • I always accept or cancel it because of this. This does mean it is a design flaw having it in an area of high activity for pvp. People asking why do you use this large consistent source of cover to break line of sight while reloading or changing weapons...because we don't want to be an easy sink like you 😅.

At this point it's a case of picking and choosing your battles for this. It's a valid point but no one cares so we just have to work around it, controller for the win.

  • Wouldn't you say this is a little bit too much of a niche issue to remove the notes?

  • Stick it to the map table or something, the things just an eye sore and only new players ever touch it by this point.

  • @xzodeak old player here. I'm still fingerings them skulls. 🤣

  • I can understand the frustration, that's why I always accept the voyage. There's just very little downside to doing that - at worst you get a few extra pop-ups. But at least you don't have the accept prompt anymore, and it won't be an issue again until someone finishes it and a new one spawns.

I do think they should look at alternative ways of presenting the voyage though, as it's not great the way it is.

  • The problem then becomes, if we move the phantom Briggsy note (because removing it from the ship altogether is not an option and the idea to do so is dumb), where would be the best place that has:

    • commonality across all three ship types; since we can agree that it's a poor design choice to say: if you're on a Brig, you look for it here, a sloop, look here instead and if you're on a Galley, look for it in this third different place

    • a heavily trafficked area that is visible from the helm and/or most places a pirate tends to be at rest so they can see it when it pops up (another important feature, as they are supposed to be time-sensitive)

The first idea would, I imagine, be the voyage/captain's table since that's where most voyages are started anyway. I would argue it's not a prime location since it's already a little cluttered (particularly on the sloop) since you've got the hourglass, the captain's logbook, a possible active voyage or tall tale and a possible map bundle from buried treasure. That's a lot of interactable points in a single, narrow area and adding a phantom note pinned there would arguably make it worse.

Pinning it to the corner of the map table would be equally problematic for the same issue; there's already a few sitting location interactions (which I hate) and the map table function itself, the note would clutter that as well.

My personal opinion? Stick it to the railing next to the wheel. The opposite side from where the Shroudbreaker is usually mounted during Shores of Gold. No interactive things to interfere there, it's instantly noticeable upon spawning and combat doesn't happen as frequently around there since no one uses the wheel to take cover from shots.

  • @thegrimpreacher ...........or just put it in the legend of the sunken kingdom section.

  • @hiradc i think if you look this up on the forums then quite a few people care. Just put it in the legend of the sunken kingdom section.

  • @FerrousHornet01

...yeah repeating the same bad idea over and over doesn't make it a good idea.

Do you not understand the mechanics of how the voyage works?

It's not a standard voyage to be started whenever you want and farmable over and over, nor is it a single-crew voyage that only your crew is doing.

It's a pseudo-world event to be contested and shared amongst all the crews on the server.

There's no possible way for you to start it from your personal voyages on your map table and give all the other crews in the server the same maps if they opt in.

  • Just vote cancel the voyage. there are still people doing it,, on maybe 1/3rd of the servers I join, and that skull is worth a beefy chunk of change and still worth ambushing someone over if you are close to the destination. If someone completes the voyage, another won't respawn for an hour. If no one does the voyage, it shouldn't be respawning on your mast at all I don't think. It's not a big deal to cancel it every now and then if you don't want it there, but it is serving a purpose where it is at. What I want is for these ghosts to stop showing up on my ship and rambling on and on at me with the same dialogue over and over. Makes me resent the characters, Briggsy and Ramses with the Veil voyage both have this problem.

  • Thinking about it, this really stems from the same old issue of the secondary interact bind on controllers.

    Recent discussion:
    https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/168714/controller-problematic-keybind/1

Deal with that, and the SoSS voyage interaction really becomes a non-issue, IMHO.

  • Im hear just to add that aceptin SoSS still spawns you next to ship that sunk you even if they dont participate in voyage.

  • @qu1etone you actually enjoy it? Or just the easy money?

  • @xzodeak no. its awful cos pirates try to kill you. but I want the sails and figurehead. I wasn't about when it was released so I'm playing catch up. and Im not even close.

  • It really doesnt matter much where they move it or how, some one will find some reason to complain about it. People complained about the hourglass being put at the furthest corner of the table some how being in the way. If its removed from the mast, i can bet some one will complain that they have to go all the way to the table, or cant do it along another quest at the same time.

Point being, no matter what happens, people always find something to complain about in this game. This particular case sounds less like an issue of where it is, and more an issue of conflicting or poor control layout choices on controller for the game.
