Skull of Siren update Probably was a mistake

You win buddy.
I uninstalled the game.
Enjoy it.
I did not "win" anything, nor was trying. Sad to see you throw in the towel but better to realize a game might not be for you than continually banging your head against a brick wall and stressing yourself out about it. But as I and others have repeatedly said, it is possible to play and compete as a solo player against larger crews in the same server. You just need to adopt a different mindset and strategies to be successful.
Dude I just looked through the SoT category on twitch.
I found a single streamer playing solo PiratePro.
Basically every other streamer I recognize is either duo sloop or on a brig.
There’s a reason for this.
The fact that a few of you don’t get how bad it is trying to compete against full crews as a solo when a new update releases and that’s okay.
Let the game continue to decline because solos feel overwhelmed and unable to succeed in selling the skull when full crews are camping the turn in.
The solution is so easy. Just give solos the options to play against solos. But rare is literally the most stubborn studio in existence.
It's awesome for the organic environment.
Putting more random scenarios with marked content
It's a win for pvp and pve and every style in between.
It doesn't cause any harm, it just adds more variety to an improving adventure environment with pvp.
The random scenarios make this game so much more enjoyable, this adds more of them.
This type of design is huge for pve as well, more opportunity to strategize for goals outside of the combat areas.
@pickedsoda93114 And I have posted HUNDREDS of hours on Twitch & YouTube playing as a solo. I am not alone there either. Not sure what point you are trying to make with that selective example.
As already stated, Rare designed the game as a team based game first and foremost, solo play was added very late (just prior to launch). They plainly state it is the hard mode. It is possible to be successful once you understand your own limitations and adjust properly.
Anyway this is straying off-topic so I am ending this conversation. Sorry you are unable to accept the game design and adapt to the environment.
I’m sorry you think it’s perfectly fine mixing solos and full crews.
Because it’s not fine it’s actually bad for the game and bad for retention of solos.
Rare is just super out of touch with the reality of playing SoT solo against full crews.

Last reply - the game CONTINUING to be one of the top played games on Xbox discredits your statement there. Game has consistently been one of the top 30 most played games, only dropping from top 20 a couple of months ago (likely due to the LONG season 9 among other seasonal reasons).
They are not "out of touch", you are just refusing to adapt to the game as designed or realize the damage to the game that can be caused by further segregating the community. Many have had successful solo careers besides me. We accept the challenges and overcome them.
Again I have no interest in continuing this off-topic conversation, especially since you refuse to see the reality of the situation. Everything has been said that is relevant, but I am sure you will try once again to have the last word for whatever reason.
@mr-nismox competitive doesn’t equal fighting… otherwise alot of sports irl would be a bloodbath
Competitive in the case of this voyage means be the first, or only crew of the competitors that is able to deliver said skull to briggsy.
When the skull is taken from the chest every single crew can see where it has to go and can choos to:
A: try to get to the ship that is sailing with the skull and take it
B: setup ambushes on the seas
C: setup ambushes on the island where briggsy is atAnd probably even more strats.
As with rome there are multiple roads that can lead to success
If someone is able to outrun you, welp there you go they outcompeted you

I solo alot, and i still am able to make my millions and fight alot of other crews bigger or not, to be fair i fear a duo sloop more then a full crewed galleon. If you know you know

Hmm maybe adopt different strategies, if you suspect a camped turn in (which you can know by mermaids or a ship present) then adapt.

No please dear god no
You’re the type of person that wouldn’t accept a solo sloop crew roster that puts you on a server with solos even after Rare puts it in the game.
So my hope doesn’t lie with you but the devs realizing that putting solos against full crews is a bad idea if you want to retain your solo players.
@pickedsoda93114 they should make it to where NPCs can be hired till you can get actual players as crew members

That’s 10x more complicated than just offering a new solo sloop crew roster for adventure mode and matching any pirate using that roster to a server with other solos.
I want to compete to sell the Skull of Siren Song against solo players if I’m playing solo.
A revolutionary idea, I know.
Open crew works but isn’t ideal for sweaty PvP content.
Often times an inexperienced crew mate is worse than being solo.
The only way to balance solo is by not forcing solos on servers with full crews.
No that’s why Rare shouldn’t force solos on servers with full crews.
It’s literally c o m m o n s e n s e.
Good fix would to just make any ship (rowboat) that has it takes damage overtime once it reaches a certain point. (Like the Red Sea)
And simply removing it from the ship and replacing it won’t change itSo if you don’t deliver it quick enough, your ship sinks and sends the skull back to the depths XD
And start spawning harder skeletons on islands
It’s my favorite way to play but there’s no point in still being here on this forum. I have to go now. Rare just doesn’t support solo players properly. I’ve known this for years and I’ve put up with it for this long but honestly the fact that they will add safer seas with zero PvP but won’t add a solo sloop crew roster so solos can play against just other solos. It’s so unfair. After spending hundreds of dollars in the emporium the fact that they refuse to improve my experience as a solo player even though the solution is so stupid simple and easy to implement. Screw Rare. Done with a company that doesn’t support solo players.
@pickedsoda93114 they're doing the best they can you got to respect that they try maybe the stuff they're adding now might impact what they add in the future just like usual
Dear Rare, this new Siren's skull voyage was a very poor inclusion. You want to make something to get folks to fight? Sounds good. We sink the crew and they are spawned close enough to the drop point to tuck a boat and row over before we get there? What a joke. I've played this game since the get go and all you do is make it worse.

You convinced me to uninstall SoT.
Mario Wonder it is today.
Bye.
And this, imo is why Rare needs to not take these demands too seriously. Too many players who barely seem to like the game and are quick to quit have big demands/ask. Yet those who really enjoy the game for what it is are not threatening to quit if they don’t get what they want. I love solo slooping, you don’t represent me :)

Splitting the entire playerbase like this is a terrible idea and I would absolutely not want to only see sloops when im solo slooping. Just get a crew if you feel underpowered. Imagine if I only wanted to play on rowboats and then complained that the devs wont put me in a server with only rowboat users.
@acnologia1403 I'm guessing you haven't partook in this new event. It's an awful design and it favors the losers by spawning their boat within quick range of the drop point. If you are engaged in the event with a piece you collected and then were sunk by the other crew you should not be rewarded by being spawned ahead of the winning boat. If anything you could be closely spawned behind the boat to chase them down since they are slowed already. This whole thing was neither tested properly (especially because you wouldn't see full player turn out on Insiders) or really thought thru based off the current spawning system.

The design is the entire point, so even if you sink, you have a chance to get back into the fight. Nobody wins until the skull is handed in, that’s what makes it so fun! Try again, you’ll do better next time.

Where was your feedback in testing? Silent. If you had such a problem with it, it should have been shared then.
