If you start it with ashen winds skull, you can get ashen rewards like an ashen chest of legends because the only way to get an ashen chest of legends is terrible. Maybe a one in 5 chances of a box of wanderers secrets.

I like this idea... An ashen wind skull is harder to get than a ritual skull: you need to complete a world event to get it instead of just sink a skeleton ship. It's plays well into the increased risk/increased reward paradigm: chaining multiple WEs together to get better rewards... They could even make the red FOTD skull cloud have red flame clouds behind it to show it's not just a FOTD, it's an ASHEN FOTD...
This is the first original (to me) good idea I've seen on the forums in the while. I tip my hat at you sir.
@pithyrumble no cooldown, just more expensive. I think the trade off of instantly having the lights makes it ok to keep the same loot pool. You’re paying for convenience.
I like the idea of a different skull unlocking different rewards though. An ashen winds skull would indeed require some effort. You either need to do Ashen Winds, Fort of Fortune, or be a captain and dig up a bunch of those 5k gold each quests until you find one. As those actually have ashen winds skulls in their loot pool. If you’re unlucky it’s going to cost you a lot of time and effort to dig one up, so that would balance the higher rewards too.

I'm pretty sure captain stash voyages have a pretty good chance of spitting one out. I've pulled at least 2 from the handful (less than 6) I've done.
@doctor-e6649 I'd like more ways to get Ashen Chests of Legend. But I'm not sure about this one. Maybe a separate skull of destiny quest that uses the molten fortress and has a gold skull so everyone knows what it is.
