Can you guys send me a video, list or thread with tips on cannon aiming and balancing out repairs with offense? I literally can’t escape PvP even on dead servers, there’ll always be someone near world events and since I solo sloop mostly, being outnumbered only makes matters worse.
Need tips for PvP
@pithyrumble yeah i do have friends but none of them plays SoT sadly, and then open crew is a disaster more often than not. Thanks for the other suggestion though.
If you specifically want to learn from someone else I wouldn't do what you are told or listen to what is said I would watch what is done and I would watch a large variety of pvp of different skill levels. If they are making solid pvp decisions then they are fine to learn from, no matter popularity or skill level.
The worst thing in pvp is to mimic someone else. That just makes a predictable version of someone that is widely known in the community.
Unique style is survival, that's not just pvp performance that is winning your win conditions as well.
I lose lots of fights and I have lost lots of fights but I very rarely lose my win conditions. Situational awareness and strategy and efficiency based on you as an individual will get you so much further than doing what another does as they do it.
If you approach pvp as a game of chess rather than a prize fight you will make so much progress in this game that you get bored of having gold.
This may not seem super helpful but I can assure you that you will do very very well approaching it like the above. Pvp skill is what it is in a risk/reward environment. You never truly need to win fights in this game to succeed when pve is a major part of your style.
@z3ycke these helped me so much!

Plenty more from Phuzzy but these are very useful. Happy PvPing pirate!
Im far from the best, but I have A lot of combat experience.
A big mistake many make is what I call "Panic Repairing". Not every hole needs to be fixed instantly. I have won several scraps half sunk, I was just slightly less sunk than the other guys.
Give yourself a hole or two then ignore it and sail around. Sound cues are your friend. You'll realise that It takes a lot longer to fill than you think it does and your ship is very good at telling you it needs fixing.
I learned sink rates on my sloop by kegging my own a few times, for science.
In combat, Bucket first repair second. Of course, if you get too many holes, try to turn out of the fight, bucket til the ship is as close to empty as possible, repair, then straight back to bucketing to repair til you get it under control. You do not need to be fully fixed to get back into the fight. As long as mast and wheel are good and youte not full of tier threes, get back in there. Of course if you have the time rep fully.
If your mast or wheel crack, repair them asap. Keeping a good angle is important. Keeping mobile is vital, Imo.
In combat a bucket or two takes seconds, its all about keeping pressure on them with cannons, quick bucket or two when you hear the groan then back to cannons. Firebombs are a great way of increasing pressure on the enemy, if shot at wheel or cannon line and have the benefit of damging over time.
If you lose angle or start to hear the death groan, fix your turn and get a few reps and buckets til you have angle again.
Aim for one balls on the enemy cannon, wheel and definitely try to drop the mast if you can.
I only board if the sink is guaranteed.
After youve sunk your foe, get instantly on reps. Ears open for the sound of mermaids and boarders.
You can watch every PvP video youtube has to offer and learn a few tips, but the best way to improve is simply to just keep fighting.
I often get asked to help peole gain a few levels as I open crew across the seas, and the first tip I give, if asked is..
"We all sink. Get over it and get back out there."
This of course, is my experience only, im sure a few people would disagree, but it works for me.
Good luck Cap'n!
@z3ycke Definitely use blurb's PvP series. It was a complete game changer for me. Phuzzybond is good also.
