Hi im officalily the best sea of theives player that lives in my house and im looking for a few tips on how to kill little reaper pajama children who borrowed uncles swear word dictionary and learned how to rage from Ishowspeed
Hg Tips
I don't have a good read on this thread so if you're really looking for tips:
Naval:
angles, gotta keep an angle as often as you can
cannon accuracy, just practice
ladder guarding, do the best you can, don't get
discouraged over it, they get on the boat sometimespressure, get 'em nervous
capitalizing on pressure, this is extremely important
water management, gotta get the timing down with practice
capitalizing on water management, they gotta get in trouble before you do, pressure, pressure
keep some distance, people get too close, unless you're super solid at tdm it's not typically a good strat
The more pressure you can apply before and while carrying some water in your boat the overall better chance you have of putting the opponent in a situation where they get in trouble.
This all takes a lot of time and a lot of practice but this is how a non tdmer remains competitive in this environment and in general naval is #1
In combat getting rattled has consequences. Anger, frustration, focusing on the other person/crew in a personal way like your post suggests leads to mistakes and decisions that are outside of what is appropriate and necessary in that moment.
In this environment it's no big thing, we get a new boat and we get to try again
Practice on fleets, practice on bigger boats
just get the reps and don't take combat too serious, take the sentimental serious but not the combat. There is a lot to combat in general in this game, sometimes you'll have great wins and sometimes you'll lose in silly ways, ain't no thang, we just respawn.
I don't think there are any general tips that would work all the time at any situation. Apart from 'outsmart' them.
You don't owe anyone a fight and if someone engages a fight with you, they are doing it on their terms. So if you decide to fight back, make sure you do it on yours instead of adjusting and having a fair one. If you feel your crew/you playing solo wont win this one, don't be afraid to utilize sailing away, trying to anchor them, keg them, use your surroundings, cannons on islands, like literally whatever you are confident about helping you win.
At the same time, if you are on a duo sloop or a brig or galleon and a solo slooper attacks you, even if its Blurbs, just fight don't run. But that's just me, I am not the best PVP player there is, but on the other hand I am the best one in my house too :D
If I could give a naval tip, practice your cannons, where you could hit their cannons. Taking out their guns will do wonders in turning tides.
Two days ago, we were doing athenas and I see a sloop pulling up next to our ship. If those guys were any good, we had 0 chance. Thankfully they were probably rather new. However, they did everything correctly just like an experienced pirate would do. They didn't anchor, they stopped with their broadside perfectly a sword lunge accross from our ship and started firing. I managed to kill their cannons guy, hit their mast (Didn't take it down), filled them with holes and got them on fire. So they started to run away to reset. I knew they will be back, so I picked up an athena keg we had on the beach and started swimming towards them. Once I caught their ladder, I knew it was GG. P.S. I did not move our ship an inch, but we were ready to sail away at any moment.

@WolfManbush ok thats going to be helpful thank you
Are you playing on a crew?
When playing on a crew whether it's family/friends or a group formed in a more random way that is your team. Teams require leadership but everyone plays an important role. There is no blame as the team is working together as cohesive unit.
Crews fall apart all of the time, not because of losing or because of what opponents do but because of blame, taking things out on one another, mistreating members of the crew during/after intense situations. It's a game and a rather silly one at that. Crew morale is far more important than the results of fights that are just grains of sand in overall activity.
In a game environment in general and this one specifically there is nothing worth sacrificing the quality of experience for the crew/a crew member over.

@wolfmanbush I play solo
Solo fights in general (when experienced) just become who can get the mast/oneball and capitalize quicker and then that leads either to repair simulator or just a sink. There are random things that interfere here like bug management on both sides.
Since HG is something designed around a lot of fights and rewards losses it just makes more sense to take more risks in fights that are pretty close in skill and worry about dragging on fights less.
If you are in a situation where you can record a couple of fights you're welcome to send them to me so I can see what your fights are looking like. No matter someone's skill level the basics are the same and you'll also have strengths in one way or another that can be used to do the best you can with what you're working with. That's all a fight is, just doing the best you can with the fundamentals of naval/combat.

I'd strongly suggest watching "Phuzzy Bond" Guy does a bit of solo PVP and really breaks down his decision-making progress.
He has both long form streams and shorter instructional. definitely worth checking out.
