Wasn't hyped for Monkey Island until...

  • I watched the developer videos explaining this would be a faithful reproduction in every way to include not being a hand holding exercise. Thank you for this Rare, truly. To me, and I hope many others the tall tales such as the hidden parts of the first tall tale of a pirate's life where you have to solve hidden puzzles and piece together clues was the best part of the entire experience to me. I spent days doing that part of the tall tale series over and over again, figuring it out and the sense of accomplishment from that is something that I hope to see more of in the future. Fingers crossed, this is more of the dynamic going forward for puzzles and content going forward.

    Disclaimer: I also really love PVP, both dynamic and new arena

    I loved the shared world tall tales and attempts at shared adventures that Rare have done in the past, but unfortunately people will be people and someone will always attempt to spoil the experience for others and when trying to do tall tale, when suddenly! Someone comes down to the black pearl wreck with a mega keg, holds the last step of the tall tale hostage in siren fortress, and so on the immersion is broken and while sad that's just the reality we live in.

    I feel the opposite in some ways. Most the fact that Monkey Island won't be a permanent Island in adventure mode. I understand that the tall tales will be "instances" but why the Isle be literally anywhere along the edges of the map, i.e. Coral Fortress? The map was expanded over a year ago, let's fill it up! I know it may be taxing to the servers..... Thus, it may forever be a semi-pseudo-faux "addition" to our shared world. Please..... Make it part of the Seas.... We need something new. "Physically" in the world, not a ferry dream.... I actually own all the monkey islands floppies and big box PC MS-DOS originals..... 1990. Point and click. Different time..... Imagination was our fps and dpi.... Please RARE, if your gonna do it, let it free....

  • @onelosttoken Unfortunately the map is stressed to the limits as is and couldn't support something like this, mostly because it's held back to whatever the xbox last generation is still supported. Captain Falcore did a video testing it with walking around Port Merrick on the current oldest xbox supported and it was like watching a slideshow. Sure there will be additions at some point, but also sure that just getting outposts to Ports is gonna take awhile without being too testing to frame rate. My money is the current islands just as outposts will evolve and grow and get more features added to them.

  • Just thought about this too, but also expanding the bottom of the ocean outside of render range like they did with the shrines and treasuries with stuff to mine on bottom of ocean via diving bell that was invented in the age of piracy is also a future option for the game. Just expect there will be more added gradually but slowly.
