There are 5 commendations for each faction that call out sinking the opposite faction, three of which (italicized) unlock cosmetic rewards for purchase.
GoF: Running the Risk (100), Exemplary Captain (100), Too Many to Count (500), Quite the Collection (100 flags), Magpie’s Revenge (50).
SoF: Risk it All (100), His Favorite Crew (100), Rack Them Up (500), Pathetic Tokens (100 flags), The Flame Never Dies (50).
I have two suggestions:
- I humbly put forward that they should no longer require the opposite faction, since we can now match against the same opponent it is in effect doubling these numbers.
- I would say that we should reduce Too Many to Count and Rack Them Up to 100 to bring them in line with the other commendations which require 100 or less.
Here are some stats to put it into perspective (and to make it worse some of these stats were obtained before the patch that allowed same-faction matchmaking):
- Servants is 404, ships sunk 509, Rack them up is 312/500
- Guardians is 271, ships sunk 384, Too Many to Count is 200/500
Hidden design philosophy that by level 200 you’ve unlocked everything or very very close to everything. This, sans the level 1000 prestige reward, is the one exception, and it’s an exception by miles. Needing to get to 600 to finish off the sets you’ve collected from you level 100-200 journey is silly (1 skeleton part, and 2 guardian ghost parts), and even their original game design wanted you to have it by level 400.
