Do not let the cheating discussion become taboo

    After seeing a handful of posts mentionning cheating being instantly shut down, I'm honestly starting to worry about Rare's approach to the current cheating situation. I'm currently 1400+ total allegeance, so I've been around the mode quite a bit and cheating is still oh so rampant. I won't go into details on the nature of the cheating as anyone who's been actively playing HG on PC/EU servers knows what I'm referring to. I will admit tho ever since Rare patched the instant repair hack, I noticed alot less "obvious" hacks (i.e kep dropping etc..), but whenever the 2 hours played account starts beaming your ship from accross the map, always hitting the same spot in a robotic fashion, it doesn't take a genius to know what you're up against. To this day, especially on Brig and Sloop for some reason, in 10 matches on PC/EU servers, I can be pretty sure I will encounter canon overlay, if not worse, at least once; be it from people whos ship is litteraly named "Buy our hacks" to someone trying to discretely boost his main account with the help of cheaters.

    I understand fully that combatting cheaters is easier said than done and that it's pretty much an arms race, but we were told that the devs were working behind the scenes to provide us with solutions. Yet, it's been some time now and all we've had is the patch of the gamebreaking instant repair hack and people in ghost forms flipping boats. Was this it ? Because right now it does feel like Rare patched the most obnoxious game breaking hacks and is now proceeding to shut down every conversation about what is still rampant hacking.

    Although the community has been willing to let hitreg get a pass for years, I honestly don't think rampant cheating can get swept under the rug. I stuck with the game after Arena's removal, patiently waiting for season 8 as it was supposed to give us PvPer's an outlet. Now all I get is to have my experience ruined pretty much everytime I play by some guy with downloaded skills. I know my post will probably be locked and so be it, I will diligently refer to the episode 5 podcast as a way to apologize to the devs for my insolence.

    Lastly, there wouldn't be so many cheaters posts popping up if the community felt like Rare took the issue seriously and were actively working to root out the cheaters and not just a vague mention in a months old podcast.

    I agree. Just instantly locking the threads now feels very off.

    Flying kegs are still a thing,happened to me last weekend and turned the clip to musicmee. But the most pathetic thing Is the ones getting boosted by those peoples because they cant even Walk in this game.

    Most of my matches have atleast 1 alt account with very good gaming chairs.

    Should be nice if they start to use those emporium Money to address this.

    If people cannot read and see that other posts are being closed for a reason, then they deserve to also have their posts closed.

    As stated previously, the best way players can bring these bad actors to our attention is by raising a support request here. This helps us assess numbers, categorise issues and develop solutions accordingly.

    Rallying people on the Forums does not do this. While sentiment can get fed back, reports help us assess player impact and numbers, this is what we need to support us in our work against those spoiling the experience of others on the seas.

    Threads are not being locked to stifle the conversation or turn a blind eye. We are under no illusion as to the issues our players are facing, and monitoring these conversations, sentiment and reports is part of our day-to-day task as the Community Team, but leaving these threads up leads to witch-hunting as people post Gamertags or videos 'exposing' others. It can lead to false accusations. All of these are better sent to our Support Team who have the tools and training to assess the evidence and take appropriate action.

    We addressed this several months ago in our podcast and we are actively working to mitigate the issues people are seeing. We can not go into detail on our work in this area but rest assured, we are committed to doing our best to give all players the best experience possible.

    When reporting players please make sure to include as much detail as possible as well as video evidence to help us find solutions.

    As links have been provided to both our support site where these problems can be reported, and to our response as a studio to the problems we know our players are facing, I will be dropping anchor here.
