I know this isn't "Sea of Friends" and after reading a lot of forums/discussions I can concede that a completely PVE server could eventually become dull after so long (granted it may take a lot longer for me to reach that point), but since season 9 has dropped my SOT experience has significantly declined. I haven't been able to really enjoy any world-events, shrines, or even tall-tales without being attacked/sunk especially if I'm not on my ship for more than like 5 minutes. I've played for a while now so of course this isn't a new experience for me, it's part of the game, but it's never been this frequent and I'm finding myself playing the game less & less now as a result.
I was thinking maybe it's a combination of increasing the server capacity to 6 ships and that hourglass PVP is no longer diverting PVP encounters as it once did or maybe I just have really really bad luck when it comes to populating in a server with very aggressive players. I personally tend to spend more of my time running PVE but have always enjoyed the subtle anxiety of having to check the horizon for other players but it's become almost guaranteed that someone will roll up on me cannons blazing at this point. I don't know if anyone else is having a similar experience?
Although it is still a beautiful game that is unlike any other, the PVE / PVP balance has significantly changed for me and I just can't immersive myself in it like I could before the Season 9 update.
