I'd like to see them bring back older skins that you really can't get anymore. Sea dogs, legendary weapons, plunder pass skins, etc. Black market with dobloons, emporium or commendation would be the way to obtain them. Could even do a seasonal thing where you can buy every single skin that revolves around summer or christmas time.

I would welcome the change myself to finish some sets I have halfway.
Either that or let me sell incomplete skins, don't care how rare they are.
Is actually a common request among veterans, we have our inventories filled with incomplete trash, let us sell it.

The only thing is would ruin is a false sense of pixel ego.
Also catering to your veteran players at the expense of your new players is a great way to end up with no players.
@foambreaker I hate it when I see people trying to gatekeep others from having stuff they have. A bunch of people have said that the skins they look at as special, is no longer special because more players have it. 95% of the time, they're probably not gonna see anyone else using it either. I'm certainly not admiring other peoples cannon when I'm mid fight

I do understand limited cosmetics for special rewards, but if it was up to me personally anyone who uses "its only special because others dont have it" as a reason why stuff shouldnt come back, i would say remove that item from their inventory flat out.
I wish i had gotten the good boy set, but i can accept that it wasnt intended for everyone, meanwhile, i have a pile of cosmetics that cant be gotten currently, and all they are doing is gathering dust, so there would be no logical reason to complain if they returned for others who would actually use them more than me.
I think if they were to bring back everything it would absolutely just blow up the entire community. See how much outrage was brought with this one event let alone everything else.
It is too late to take the "no exclusive or time limited cosmetics" path without throwing the community into a riot against each other. People with pixel egos vs people with an unnecessary amount of attitude towards those people with pixel egos.
I fully believe this is THE best move Rare can take regarding time-limited and exclusive cosmetics and still please 90% of the people that care about cosmetics:
- Reskin all the old ones and release the reskins permanently to everyone. People with the originals get to keep their item and show that they were there for whatever. People that missed out on the originals still get the item model to play with, sure it might not be the exact same, but we don't get to choose our own colours for things in this game, we should all be used to it by now.
- Immediately stop all current and planned future time limited cosmetics. Turn a new leaf. FOMO and exclusivity only breeds toxicity in the community, so stop now while the game is still decently young.
- If they MUST have exclusive cosmetics, have them return on a regular basis, and clear it obviously with the community, like Christmas or Halloween items.
Either keep all the items that were explicitly stamped with a "time-limited" label locked away for good (including the season specific items ie Shroudbreaker, Ocean Deep, etc.).
Or....
Bring them ALL back barring the few items listed below for obvious reasons.

- Launch Crew Eye of Reach
- Day 1 Eyepatch
- 1000 Days Eyepatches
- Fabulous 5 Eyepatch

Personally, I'd prefer they go the ALL route...but as long as they don't start playing favorites, I'm fine with NOTHING as well.
@ghutar I completely agree. I would say that they can bring those events back yearly so people get the chance to play them in a small timeframe. It makes it somewhat special, but also available for those who are able to play it during those times. black market for skins would be quite nice. On top of that, they can sell multicolored versions of skins. For example legendary weapons. Have the option to choose which one you'd like to use. Obviously you can't just put the OG legendary weapons out on the black market considering the time people have put in to earn them. I'd either go with bring back arena/sea dog or rework those sea dog commendations to revolve around the new pvp mode. Personally I hate the hourglass mode and I'd rather see them bring back arena and sea dog faction, but that's just me.
@sweetsandman All skins should definitely be a thing. Yes, you can't see who played since day 1, but does it really matter? Give them a title or something instead. Personally I don't really care what people use as a skin. Its their personal taste and its their choice. I just hate the fact that we are missing out on stuff at all.

I think most of the things he mentioned are Arena cosmetics, who never where meant as time limited cosmetics, but PvP cosmetics. I don't see any problem with putting that stuff into hourglass, since that is also a PvP mode. They can hardly complain about PvP cosmetics being in a PvP mode as they where intended. That the PvP mode is a bit different doesn't matter in my opinion. It was never time limited and was meant for PvP, that focus stays. If they get mad about that, it's just because they want to deny others the cosmetics.
@super87ghost I'd like to have all skins available, but most of all arena costmetics. It wasn't a time limited thing at all, they just decided to shut it down and I think they should rework those commendations and skins to benefit the current hourglass mode

The only ones who care are said veterans (and not all of them, see above), and there are less and less on the seas....

If the thinking is that players should be able to enjoy old cosmetics, why would there be an exception list? Add the vanguard, launch day items, pre-order packs, etc.. back into the game. Might as well go full speed ahead.
IMO the only way moving forward if they don't want to do exclusive items anymore is to just change the policy on items from today moving forward, not to backtrack and change availability of old stuff.

All or nothing for stuff from the past (past meaning starting today). I'd offer forgiveness for items that are literally time-stamped cosmetics (like the ones I listed).

Plunderpass items, fine. Twitch drops, fine. But Arena cosmetics coming back for doubloons? Heck no! People earned those with hard work, lots of combat and hours in the Arena.
According to how they fight when I see them in HG, an AWFUL lot of them were boosted or cheesed them in some way...

@jolly-ol-yep you have not met every arena player. People who played arena needed to win and play a s**t ton of Arena. Tons of people didn't even supported Arena but want the cosmetics. They never gonna release them again.

@goldsmen thats a shame for the sea dogs stuff as i think bringing seadogs back as a third faction in hg and earning those cosmetics from there would be a good compromise plus get more people involved in arena 2 aka hg
The issue with everything going on is that no one wants to be specifically hurt by losing their time limited items and not gaining anything in return. For example as someone who played starting from S1 I would feel really bad if they brought back all time limited items from season passes and nothing else.
However a lot of people (myself included) would be more than happy to see all time limited items return that way everyone wins! Most players would love Rare to say no more FOMO everything is coming back.
Either time limited items exist and keep existing to keep players happy and have a way to show off their story or all items return and everyone gets a tone of cosmetics to play with any in between will just make a lot of people feel bad.

NO! This feels so bad for new players since they are being told the reason time limited items exist is because it shows off a pirates story at a meaningful time and by removing all time limited items then would be the equivalent of saying that none of new players story matters as much to deserve time limited items. Either bring them all back or just keep making so many that players can always feel good to have something to show off their story.

No, you dont get to step on established ground to quiet your greed, I dont have everything and im not wishing from Rare to take the exclusivity from some items so I can get them.
Absolutely childish behevior, bad sport to take it away after Rare being clear that they were time limited, reskins are more then a fair compromise.
Those who cant see it as middleground will never be pleased if a situation dont answer their exact demand.If Rare wants to stop exclusivity for future items they can do that, their game, even though its a shame...

The arena before it shut down was already arena 2, neither build of the arena was remotely like hourglass, nor does the hourglass have any affiliation with the sea dogs faction that owned the cosmetics.

Some people feel this way. Not me. I think veteran players need more to do.
Many vet players have missed out on a lot of things, due to life commitments & responsibility, so giving them more to do would benefit the game. Give us more to aim for, more reasons to keep playing this game.There is some stuff that should stay locked up, like the Golden Legendary Set, given how tedious the grind was.
But locking most things away, never to be repeated, is only taking away from the game IMO, and giving players less to aim for.Glad to see the ball rolling more now. i want to see all items return. never liked the principle of time locked cosmetics, especially those that dont return.
arena items should return to hourglass. those legendary weapons where the best skill measure in SoT, now its a relic of the past. something like 200-300 wins athena side should do the job. the replacements are cool, but cant compare and doesnt match with the rest of the set well either. and before you attack me for craving them, i have everything from arena ;)
i would say im a veteran, and would like to return all cosmetics. it is the only reward type in the game really, so i dont like the lack of accessibility. played since year one, i got a bunch and missed a bunch. we need more cosmetics to unlock and more to do anyway.
there needs to be an equivalent of effort to get the items if they return IMO. the golden legendary stuff can be locked behind lvl 1000 hourglass athena with golden ghost curse as an example. the controller stuff locked behind merch and black dog needs to be difficult to get aswell.
The worst is the argument that seasonal PL rewards should be locked forever. The need to flex a beard and glowing eyes that is connected to a set belonging the main milestone of the game. im sorry but that is like owning the biggest pickup truck if you know what i mean.
Edit: forgot to mention, stuff like the day 1 eyepatch i can understand being locked. that is more an important number than preventing access of cosmetics. i am talking very very few exceptions though. as you can see i want the golden legendary stuff to return for example.
