Too many cheaters in S8 sloop.

    I have been grinding S8 for a good amount of time now (200 Athena/160 Reaper). I've been mostly playing Galleon and duo/solo sloop, and the amount of cheating I encounter, especially on sloop, is outrageous. I encounter cannon overlay, by far the most common cheat I see on sloop, at least 2 matches out of 10 where the guy will basicly shoot you accurately at any range but litteraly only under the cannons (easy to spot since you'll have only one hole the whole match), still doable as long as you dodge the oneballs but definitely a pain to fight against. Lots of aimbots as well, encountered at least 8 that I'm sure of where the guy will lose broadside/mast and will basically start spamming sniper/pistol shots from absurd range. And that's not even counting the amount of people that I suspect have ESP's in this game, this one being a little bit more of a gray area since gamesense is also a thing.

    For reference, I have over 5k hours, most of them spent in PvP both casual and competitive and the only time I saw that much cheating was during the last month of Arena, even then it wasn't as rampant. My two last sloop matches to get to 100 Athena were two blatant cheater duos back to back, one of them speedhacking non stop onto our ladder.

    I know alot of people on this forum don't realise how bad the situation is regarding cheaters right now, but I can tell you that all the people that me and my friends reported were handed out bans so it's unlikely we're imagining things, and that's only the blatant ones as most people who cheat do it in a way that offers plausible deniability.

    I seriously hope Rare adresses this issue at some point. We cannot have a healthy ELO-based competitive mode if cheaters are left unchecked with them only being able to get caught if they snap and use aimbot/speedhack.

    The fact that people can easily make alts for free when they're banned is what enables cheaters the most. It's insane that people aren't effectively punished for being banned.

    at least 2 matches out of 10 where the guy will basicly shoot you accurately at any range but litteraly only under the cannons (easy to spot since you'll have only one hole the whole match)

    so I must be cheating because I tend to always hit the same spot too, yet it mainly because the ship and I are in a merry go round, while they miss I hit. I found the sweet spot to fire and just keep firing.

    I know alot of people on this forum don't realise how bad the situation is regarding cheaters right now

    No, it because nobody ever. EVER posts clear evidence. It just "I saw someone do this, and its cheating"

    This seems about right. I encountered my first cheaters in 1100+ hours a few days ago. We record our fights so we could easily make a compilation of our PoV and send it to Rare.
    Since it seemed to be an Open Crew (we faced that ship just 20 min. before) I reached out to the 2 players that didn't seem to cheat. One logged-off mid fight because he saw that things were sketchy, the other didn't but told me that the 2 cheaters were actually asking for money to boost him further and sunk their ship when he said no. They told him that they were banned every 4 days or so which matched with the accounts they were using (6 and 4 days old respectively).

    Still a very rare occurence though.

    That's because the times someone actually has a video clip of someone cheating (usually posted by the cheater them selves) they get removed and replaced by comment discouraging sharing cheats and telling, how they should report instead. Even if the clip isn't suspicious at slightest it gets the same treatment.

    The reason you find little to no clips of actual cheaters on SoT forums is that they aren't tolerated.

    Though I have no saying whether cheats are becoming more popular or not, if it's topic you'd like to delve into there are videos on youtube of people using cheats such as formally mentioned cannon aimbot and some sort of cheat that apparently displays all entities for you.

      And again I specifically told you if you want to know what cheats look like and how frequent feel free to Message me here, because Ive got a folder with a bunch of proof from THE cheaters PoV etc this season alone.
      There is NO DOUBT, that theres a lot more then I would like to admit on sloops specifically compared to Gallys. Probs has to do with bigger crews shying away from wanting to play with said cheaters.

    Like OP I ain't no bot when it comes to PvP, had my fair share of 2k+ hours spent in PvP and in comp and can clearly tell when someone is shooting cannons normally vs an aimbot lock/overlay hitting the same pixel spot over and over again from all ranges, it's ridiculous.
    Hitting chains on a sloop near max range with full sail going NW once or twice? Sure I can accept that as skill with a bit of luck/fluke involved, but back to back in the span of 10 minutes you get the idea. Not even the Best cannoners can pull that off.

    That's also the players that don't care about being banned each time on their 50th alt so they go all out with those hacks.

    ESP hacks are a bit harder to detect since its not straight out aimbot but rather intel gathering hacks (Wallhacks) which can EASILY be discarded as them just having better ''game sense''. Until they decide to be toxic and Blunderbuss ADS your spawn several times in a row. Must be luck according to you right?

    It sounds to me you don't actually play the game that often if you claim you don't come across paths with hackers in S8, the FACT that multiple posts are cropping up on these forums since S8 being a PvP focused update with a lot of players installing hacks to get the edge should tell you enough, but apparently not to you it doesn't...

    EDIT: BTW GO CHECK OUT THE TOP ORDER OF SOULS EMMISSARIES, THOSE USER NAMES ARE PROMOTING HACKS. So idk what more to say to you really.

    And what would you consider is clear evidence then? Do you suggest one hacks into the cheaters screen to determine what hack system they use? Because the most I'm sure anyone can do, is imply to their best of their abilities to determine if one may be cheating. Even an implication and a video of the incident should warrant some suspicion and further investigation into the matter. If a ship is able to get 1 hole in from the get-go, and then consecutively get more hits in the same spot over periods of time on a moving vessel, who's to say they might not be cheating. Not to mention it may be against the rules to post videos of others with the intention of targeting them for hacking, it incentivizes mob mentality. Cheating however is prevalent, has been for a long time, anyone who doesn't believe it are kidding themselves. YouTube has a video up every other day of players using hack systems for aim bots, or to visualize exact enemy position, or cannon angle, or even aim assists.

    @grog-minto Whats more concerning is that the whole player base can look up this months Order of Souls ledger and RARE are slow to ban those obvious accounts promoting their hacks.

    And we have BurnBacon here pretending hacking 'isn't that common'. when theres thousands of players doing it on the daily in front of every ones noses.

    They need a better anti-cheat, end of.

    this is a game where even casual players rack up a lot of hours played

    it's not like it's surprising or suspicious that the people that play a lot with a lot of experience grinded it out quickly

    people tanking all their fights were unlocking curses in a couple weeks

    All the high streaks I've personally seen were all to be expected.

    the high win streaks that are widely known publicly were largely recorded and predictable.

    Some players think that these NPC level community members dont see the picture because they might be said hackers, but I really dont think at all thats the case.
    They just rather play it 100% safe, so witch hunt wont be a thing. Cute, but its only a bandage to the issue.

    Its obvious how worse the seas are now with the influx of hackers, but they rather ignore it and even believe that all of these sketchy matches are just probably a NAL pro players. 🤣
    Account got 10 hours? "Must be the wind" "They are probably just leveling their second account". Which of course its possible, OR, its a hacker.

    The real issue is loading into a fight and finding yourself up against a whole fleet of allied ships who are farming kills. Even cheaters want to pretend the fight is fair so they can feel good about themselves, but players needing to outnumber their enemy six to one or more must feel serious shame surely. Especially as they are doing it over and over and there is no hiding it from themselves.

    I can verify that this cheat has been going around and been seeing this one frequently on in multiple Discord communities.

    Just came across 4 alt accounts with less then 10 hours played on all their account double tapping aimbotting our crew gally v gally, knowing where we spawned each time.

    Cheaters are everywhere. DO your job RARE because people are quitting an otherwise great to be season...
    Reporting to support each time isn't doing any favours anymore.

    This game will die because of cheaters, plain and simple. It kills the crew vibe when losers don't offer a fair game using hacks, makes everyone not touch the game for extended periods of time.

    That true, the feeling of loose to cheaters when you have high strike is incredible terrible.

    When you loose - you get nearly nothing, In other PvP games, even with teachers, if you loose you get something back(more kills and more time spend on match will increase that rewards), and you can try play again. Thanks to that when you loose against cheaters you can swallow it.

    The rewards system is created on wrong assumptions, I know, that is a pirate game, we want to feel constant uncertainty, we want the feeling of fight for our treasure, without that, the game becomes boring.

    But with cheaters in this PvP mode, the feeling of loose your rewards to some sad people without purpose in life is just sad. When you know that the other crew is just better, it's normal, they spent a lot of time to get better and they deserve that rewards.

    There must be the way to somehow fight with this cheaters or at least give people somethihing to cheer them up after unwinnable match.

    As I know, now they can create a new account even when they got a ban on first. In my opinion, this should change.

    @gotszu I will quit the game after 2 weeks of grinding, I'm soo upset I did not play PVP before I farmed HC's 45 canons just to run into 5 sloops of solo cheaters back to back, I'm not willing to go through this, I actually feel cheated by Rare, I paid money for this game just to be ran out of it by cheat engines, I mean what kind of paper programing is behind their anti-cheat engine? There is literally a website where you can purchase a ban-erase for 3 euros, are you kidding me Rare? Is the game open source or what? THERE. IS. A. BAN. RESET. KEY. AVAILABLE. FOR 3. EUROS. Nah, get your ... together Rare, do something about it, it will kill your game in half a season, wait until your top Twitch streamers start raging and you lose basically all of your community to around 3k cheaters that you don't address. I don't care about bans, fix the anti-cheat engine, the fact that they can literally change anything on this scale is just disgraceful.

    You are not leaving because you feel cheated by Rare, you're leaving because you suck at PvP and you can't accept that. You make ridiculous claims of 5 sloops of cheaters back to back, when what you really mean is I got beaten by better players 5 times in a row. I have no doubt that some cheaters do exist, but for you to claim that 100% of the 5 sloops you ran into in a row were cheaters is utter nonsense.

    Rather than your whining and crying why not learn to play the game. Stop making excuses for your failure to win fights.

    Harsh, yes, but somebody needs to tell you this: you suck at PvP. I know how you feel. I suck BIG TIME at PvP. But I take every experience of losing as positive instruction. I don't give up because I have lost every PvP fight so far (except that one time when, in Hourglass, an opposing player jumped onto my ship and allowed me to cannonball his own sloop to the grave. Then he killed me with his sword. :-D)

    Sick of it now. The ne.... website needs taking down. As for people saying players on xbox can't cheat, must think people can't research ie/ cr.... , la. swit.. , etc etc

    Being playing since day one and currently it's the worst for cheating than it's ever been. Rare need to step up, acknowledge and sort it out, are you even listening RARE.

    I will no longer be paying for season pass (bought each one so far) or anything else to rare untill it's addressed and stopped. I will play but not give you money.

    Love to pvp and I don't mind at all losing to a good player or crew. Playing for so many years now that cheaters stand out like a sore thumb. There is a big difference between a good player and a cheat.

    Get it sorted RARE.

    It's weird, but I almost never come across players who are OPENLY, obviously cheating. Maybe once in the past 4 months.

    @pumpa-cat Yeah, there is some exaggeration. However I'm not denying cheating doesn't exist, or that is more prevelant than my own experience.
    I'm not a streamer or well-known player so there isn't any clout in finding or sinking me.
    I don't engage in much high-risk stuff or stack loot, so no one with ESP or etc. server hopping is going to see my ship loaded, doing a FOF, for ex. I only stack early in month when the ledgers flip.
    I also don't engage in the pvp-mode very often, only occasionally.
    Region and time-of-day probably has some involvement, though I do play during busy hours sometimes.

    There are probably a variety of factors in this, but just giving my own experiences. (over 5k hours?)

    Absolutely. I do not deny the existence of cheaters. They’re in almost every game I bet. But the cry of cheaters is grossly exaggerated.
