Currently, in SoT there are only a few white ship hulls, the Good Boy Hull, Magpies Glory Hull, Shining Pegasus Hull, and the Silver Blade Hull (kind of?). The trouble is that all of these Hulls are difficult to obtain for a new player coming to the game, or even a veteran player who wants to earn some new cosmetics via grinding. Here's why, Good Boy Hull is unobtainable currently, as it is a retired Arena cosmetic. Both the Magpies Glory Hull and Silver Blade Hull require a time-gated requirement. The shorter of the two is the Silver Blade Hull as an insiders reward, which is unobtainable for anyone under the age of 18. This means that someone who wants to get these free would have to wait for 6 months (under 18) or 10 weeks (about 3 months, 18+). Now the only other way (the one I went with) is to buy the Shining Pegasus Hull with ancient coins, about 1-2 ancient skeletons worth, or $6 USD worth. So you can either wait 3 or 6 months, spend $6, or have been one of the few to grind out a limited-time cosmetic. My suggestion is to make a new cosmetic set that utilizes a white ship hull. Doesn't have to be easy to obtain, but in the spirit of the seas, anyone should be able to get it at any time of their adventure.
White Ship Hulls and Why We Need More
You missed the why we need more part. You've stated how they're limited access. In theory they make tucking harder but dunno if you that was what you were getting at. New players usually won't be focused on that kind of low level detail tactic so I don't see it as a requirement for them to be available more easily
Don’t forget there’s also a white and black Wandering Reaper and Gilded Phoenix hull! But that’s also retired or inaccessible at the moment, so more easily accessible white cosmetics would be greatly appreciated. Even just white clothes would be nice.
Also a orange and black hull would be awesome too 👀
@hiradc I was more referring to it being difficult to obtain, with the "Why we need more" part of it; To be clearer, there should be a new easier to obtain one.
@ninja-naranja I didn't include the Wandering Reaper Hull as it is mostly black/gray, at least that's how I saw it on the wiki when I was refreshing my research on the topic.
@galactic-geek Indeed, there are more colors. I just decided to focus on white as it is, to my knowledge, the most extreme example, with not even 1 cosmetic that has enough white to really be called a white hull on it being obtainable through grinding.
@pithyrumble Good Boy is still in the game for those who hit Triumphant Sea Dog (or Legendary I don't remember) prior to the announcement of Arenas closing I believe.
@pithyrumble I see your misconception. The wiki has 2 articles named "Good Boy" one is for the team, which was removed. The other was for the set, which was time limited as I stated. The Good Boy team was removed from Arena, but the Good Boy Set was kept in the game.
Honestly why not. I myself have any of these, but like you said, most of them are hard to come by, if at all. Sure there are other colours that could be represented better as well, but that ain't an argument against more white hulls.
@pithyrumble if you've reached level 5 in arena you were gifted all the arena ship sets, except the Good Boy set, which you were gifted if you hit level 50 prior to the closing.
I think I've mentioned this in another thread, but it would be amazing if we could purchase dyes in the pirate emporium, if any of you guys tried ESO, you can apply the purchased dyes on any costume.
So imagine, let's say the Ghost ship set, but instead of black and green, the ship is purple and the glowy green bit is now glowing gold.
It might require some work for the developers, but with the new captain ship update and all those trinkets to decorate ships, this could be like a final touch to really make each ship personal and unique.@funnyqchen said in White Ship Hulls and Why We Need More:

...Or if you were a SOT partner and never even touched Arena...
Too soon?

For example, taking the Mercenary set and making it look like the Obsidian variation.
@galactic-geek I think it could be possible granted that they make it so there are only specific colors to choose from. Like you could only change it from green and black to purple and gold or silver and {inset color here}. Similar to how it works in Overwatch 2 with Genji's mythic skin/LoZ BotW's dye system. This makes it so there are more options for customization but doesn't allow for overlap with other similar cosmetics.

@culinaryspore88 I need some yellow and black combos
Yes! Yes! Absolutely yes!
Rumor has it all white ship schemes with all white lanterns are like a mating call for the shrouded ghost and increases the likely hood of it spawning.
and the Good Boy Hull wasn't obtainable during arena it was given to people who got lvl 50 with the seadogs but I get your point. If I recall there was a rare Black arena themed ship which no one got? Or the good boy was the only rare one.. idk
Silver Blade not only stuck with an age restriction but insiders has no catch up mechanic so you can only do 1 reward lvl per week so 1 hour of play. The majority of the rewards are gold/doubloons. There's no incentive to play longer than 1 hour a week leading to people not really testing as thoroughly as they might have if their time wasn't essentially being wasted past that 1st hour. So 37 weeks total to get the full Silver Blade set.
While this game has gone way to heavy on the fomo so that new players have missed out on lots of cool cosmetics... Captaincy is a much more amazing experience for new players as where its an awful experience for people who had thousands of hours of now irrelevant progress. Some of these milestones are so extreme that even if they gave us the credit for stuff we accomplished we wouldn't even be halfway to the final cosmetic for those milestones... Makes 0 sense to have done it this way.
Also patience is a virtue so if you are going to buy anything from the cash shop always keep in mind companies usually run sales during the holidays so never pay full price. Especially when these microtransactions are like buying a whole game to make up for it being a free gamepass game
