Survived the Kraken solo Galleon

  • A big personal achievement of mine! I wanted to defeat the Kraken solo on a galleon. Unfortunately I didn't get the kill because I didn't know it'd despawn before I could kill all the tentacles needed. I think you need 5 and I killed 3. I'll look up the specifics later.

But turns out that dropping anchor WAS the right answer.

The Kraken's routine is very ordinary so as long as you anticipate its moves its rather quite easy to stay afloat.

I think the Kraken does about 60planks of damage before despawning. I didn't think to count it. But typically it's 6 in the hold and eventually it'll damage every spot on the middeck multiple times.

For safety sake I was repairing all holes at the expense of canyoning. But it was fairly manageable to keep the hold dry so that's where I'll probably make up the time to shoot down the tentacles.

The speed of shooting also has to be made up with hit accuracy. I had an accuracy of about 75% (those wiggly tentacles grrr).

And that's not accurate enough to kill enough tentacles in time either.

Lastly the obvious one is you can't get sucked into a tentacle or that's gonna be a guaranteed sink.

  • Oh Def anchor. A long fight and she could swat you out of the aggro area.

I would recommend blunder and another gun (pistol for me) in case you get captured you can escape easily. (Aim down)

Insert Dart Vader "Impressive" gif here.

  • Oh the reason for the anchor is when you are solo galleon and get krakened its difficult to raise sails and you get knocked around so much that I've literally gotten sunk by getting knocked out of the Kraken into other dumb stuff like a skelly galleon and rocks. All of which is eliminated if you just anchor and fight it out.

  • If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball

    I suppose

  • @pithyrumble I do double gun but I don't think you can tolerate even one grab. Maybe later when some tentacles are down but so far my experience has been that there's just too much damage to maintain.

And yeah before I saw your reply I thought to mention same thing about anchor. Getting swatted out of the area has not resulted in the sit back and shoot from the outside effect I originally thought it would. Ever. Lol.

  • @wolfmanbush your name would be better: wolfmanbun.

Yesterday I survived the Kraken, fought a sloop and won. And had an overall decent night of questing. Never did the tall tales so starting there.

  • @idneon

I am used to sloop and brig primarily. A blunderbuss shot is usually all you need to get it to drop you. As long as you don't have to swim too far 😖

  • WOW MAN, GJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I could be good as you, but im just not good enough :(
I will try to follow your solo gally guide and improve!!!!
