I can get used to the new system, but 7 hours!? And you have to confirm the drop before starting the next 1!?
Rare, you keep finding new ways to 🤬 with people!
...it's not nice. 🥺

speak with activity imo
if someone supports it go through it
if they don't, don't"internal data observations" was on the recent tweet about milestones
they keep track of what works and what doesn't
speak with activity, one way or the other
Just because it works doesn't mean that consumers are content with it. That's the problem with this kind of marketing - it's not a service; it's predatory and disingenuous.

is it? it's cosmetics without cost of money, the source of the drop is free to use, and we can tune out whatever partner we randomly/intentionally click on
unappealing maybe but predatory? probably not
Its purely ridiculous to expect anyone to watch streamers for 7 hours. I know the prime directive and overriding design feature above all of sea of thieves is to cater to streamers but wow. I can't personally watch a minute of it, but 7 hours? Are we players or bargaining chips? Yes, I know stream fans, we can just turn it on and ignore it... I don't even wanna do that I'm just not into supporting that type of marketing.
should be a half hour per drop imo but we have 3 days to do it. and if you're trying to get a giveaway most people tune in for a lot more than that due to these silly giveaway code only cosmetics
but if its been made pretty apparent they don't respect their players time so we just got to accept it or move on. No ones forcing us into this.
You guys know you don’t actually have to actively watch the whole 7 hours right? There is also no exam at the end to test your knowledge.
The way i see it its a trade off where before you had to connect every day for less time, now you have to connect for longer but can get it done in a day if you want.
@fretfulfiber809
i did that with rising morningstar, left cpt falcore on for 2 hours and my friend heard his voice when falcore was commenting in his mic when he came over and he was like
he asks who is speaking?
I say the walls
He says i need to get groceries
lol
But yeah, leaving it on works
The final 4 Drops are repeats. If you already got those last month, then it's 3 hours to complete the set. Everyone else gets a second chance to get Drops they may have missed.
This is far better than the old system for streamers and viewers. I still think there is room for improvement but it's a step in the right direction.
I personally would like to see either the watchtime requirement reduced to 30 minutes per Drop or have the promotion last for a week.
But there are games out there that do a far worse job of Twitch Drops. Examples being: Lost Ark requiring 4 hours watchtime for a Drop, Rocket League requiring 2 hours for the first Drop and 4 hours for additional Drops, and Paladins requiring 4 hours for a Drop. Rust has a single Drop of an "xQc door" which requires 2 hours. Some are comparable, like New World requiring 4 hours for a single Drop that's a full set of clothing, but there are few games that do a better job.
You also have to bear in mind that this is a promotion. It's a marketing ploy, and one we opt-in to take part in. The items are just a reward for doing that. It helps drive engagement in the game and grows the playerbase, which benefits us all. If you don't want to take part in it, you are not required to do so.

I'm not taking that chance.

Not 7 hours if you already got some of the pieces for the ship set from earlier twitch drops
Not sure if I prefer this or the old one
Definitely the old 1... I could do that early in the morning for the 1st 20 minutes of my day as I prepared for work. But 7 hours? How am I going to do that when a] I'm not allowed to have my phone with me at work and b] even if I could, the signal is terribad. It won't survive 5 minutes, much less 7 hours. I could do it at home, but then it's eating into my prime game time, as I need my phone data to often cover for my 🤬 network.

I mean do or dont, thats on you. It works, and it makes it super easy.
@realstyli I already know that I only need the 1st 3 hours, but it's the check-ins that really urk me - I have to pause what I'm doing in my life every hour for every piece that I want, and if I'm late or wait, then that eats into the total amount of time left (which is already considerably taken up by IRL obligations). Not so bad for me, but for those who need all 7? Oof! There goes a huge chunk of their weekend.

It's completely opt-in. As I said, it's a promotion. It's not a giveaway.
Promotion = advertising = incentive = coercion ➡️ predatory practices.

That's capitalism for you, but I'm not going to get into that. At the end of the day, it's entirely up to you if you want those cosmetics or not. No-one is forcing you to watch other than yourself. If you have no plans to ever use those items, maybe skip out on the entire arrangement?

I do want those cosmetics, but not at the cost of my job and livelihood.
It's not A Clockwork Orange, no-one is forcing you to actively watch a stream, and you've already been told there is an extension which will even make it automatic.

🙄
Wait... You can now earn gold for NOT playing the game? 🤯
Oh... I already knew that. 😋

Why? I like the game. I want to play the game. I don't want to watch it, or do things outside of the game to earn things inside of it.
You always sided with Rare on almost everything
This is false. My side is with the Sea, not necessarily with Rare.
Get to watching!
Not yet! That's next week!
@galactic-geek
I like this way better, I frequently forget to tune in... but when I do remember I can have it in the background all day. Meaning, I can just tune in one day and let it run, collect everything, and not have to remember to log in 4 times in a row. Now, 7 hours may be a bit much, but with the previous system, it would be 3.5 hours and you could only do half an hour at a time.
