@wolfmanbush I mean, in fairness, the outrage from the last community day wasn't anything small, nor was the amount of rudeness and hate towards the devs. You're right that most of the time public approaches don't really do much, but I still felt like this needed to be said, since some legitimately can't be bothered to be decent.
Wording is powerful in communication.
The sentiment of promoting decency is contributing in a positive way.
Including generalized accusations that are very low in numbers puts the focus on something negative that rarely happens in order to try to build something positive up.
Imo that's counterproductive for the intent and builds your request on a foundation of seeing people within the community as enemies.
Foundations for a request/attempt built on negative approaches about others tend to be weaker than just encouraging positive views and approaches.
An alternative as an example would be an appreciation thread where positive things were laid out about community day and efforts by the devs without scolding or accusing the community. That builds on a foundation of positivity while not focusing on negatives parts. Imo
People that are trying to hurt others aren't fond of authority and being told what to do anyway. It just will make them defensive and they will use it as justification to continue on with how they approach things. They dig the reactions.
It is possible though, that someone reads a positive thread by you and they decide they like what they see and they decide they want to join you in your approach.
