@wolfmanbush I feel like you're missing my point and I'm not sure how to explain it another way. Possibly I can say this - some people (in my experience unfortunately quite a few) will come in to a stream with a completely different mindset if you make it a "Drops guys, come get it" announcement. Very few will pay attention to the "in the spirit of celebrating the small streamers" and their attitude will in many cases be completely different than it is if they come in having no idea there are drops to begin with.

To keep people there. The people that were there were there because they didn't want to miss out on something.
As much as people enjoyed the orb worship meme they were still largely there for as long as they were for potential personal benefit.
I get what you are saying and I appreciate the sentiment but I think it's picking and choosing who should be pushed into the spirit rather than just acknowledging that we all benefit and that everyone benefits to involve more people next time around including the lesser known channels that get raided.
I was there for the drops. I don't much care for streaming in general but I still found a channel I enjoyed and have hung out with after the orb. Incentives combined with spirit also works when ran reasonably
