Fishing Bait

  • Greetings pirates. Have you ever wanted to fish but not spend a while searching outpost barrels and digging for bait? I suggest the ability to buy bait from the hunters call in the same way wood etc is bought from the merchant alliance. I play with my very young daughter and she loves to fish but doesn't have the patience to gather bait :)

  • This one is coming up quite a bit. We've had a few threads in the past about it.

It is a solid suggestion, IMO.

It would also server as a place to put bait instead of the barrel..

I really would love to see it happen. No more accidentally eating worms from the barrels 🙏

I avoid that by proper inventory management and coordination with crew.

That being said, I'd love a box to just buy and put them in.

  • Try that with a 5yr old :) but I hear what your saying

  • @cpt-crack-paro Good time to learn life skills about organization and tidyness LOL

No. Hmm. Spend a few moments of your active gaming session finding easy to find bait in the ground or barrels. For free.
Or buy them with your endless gold supply

Hmmm…I’m a greedy pirate and wouldn’t want to waste gold on bait that I’m clearly standing on.

  • This is a perfectly fine idea, in my humble opinion. Granted, I do want to see the Supplies moved from the Merchants over to the Shipwright personally as it makes more sense to me for them to be there (you could also, honestly, have someone at Reapers Hideout who sells the Supplies as well since that is aligned well with that style of gameplay).

The Merchants can keep their Commodities for Trade Routes (though I wish they would move the details about that from the book tucked away be the rep to the sign that sits in the dock with imagery already on it that sort of makes it seem like it would have that kind of information).

The Hunters could be the ones who sell Bait for fishing as it makes sense for them to have it.

The Gold Hoarders could potentially sell off empty Collector Chests (like how we can get Crates that I want to see moved to the Shipwright). Same limits on it that we have on the Storage Crates now.

Just need to sort out something that the Order of Souls (and potentially Athena, but I'm fine with them not having anything in that regard personally so it would in essence be locked away behind more than just in game coin) could sell at that point, that should also be available by just playing the game like all this other stuff. Maybe this could be where they consider having Potions (which I know was a considered feature at one point). Again, with a limit in place (maybe there are varies that do different things, all findable in the world, but you could buy just one at the Outpost at the start of you wanted something very specific out of the gate - of course pending what kinds of things these might do).

At that point, each place on the Outposts/Seaposts start having things available for sale outside of just cashing stuff in (Cosmetics and Voyages not withstanding). And all of it is relegated to the concept of "things you can get for free, but can spend money for the convenience of having them early on" line that the existing stuff falls into.
