About the reporting system

  • In the last post, I raised a question about pvp, and the post is currently locked. I have understood the official attitude, and I will not ask any more questions on this issue.

But I have something to say about the reporting system. Those who maliciously kill the player and verbally insult the player should be reported and punished. Is this correct? But the game’s current reporting system has many problems.

First of all, reporting is very inconvenient. You need to manually record the evidence, edit it and submit it. This will cause a lot of trouble for player. The game’s built-in reporting system is the best solution: most popular games do the same.

Second, a complete reporting system is very important for the game. More importantly, the announcement of the punishment results: for example, rainbow6, in the kill bar, there will be information from time to time that xxx is blocked. This is a powerful deterrent. It is telling players: We have strong punishments for players who behave badly. In this game, the reporting system has no sense of existence.

Finally, all players should be made aware of the rules to further avoid this situation.

At present, I think that the game's investment in this area is very limited, making many people do whatever they want in the game without being punished. The simple and usable reporting system allows all players to participate and clean up the game environment together. The current reporting system has a relatively high threshold.

In every tavern there is a pirate code that in theory everyone should read, in addition, this is a Microsoft game. When creating said Microsoft account, you have to agree to the TOS, in which is all sorts of rules against being homophobic and racist etc.

The system atm, although sometimes it can be a little ganky, it works pretty well, to get a clip all you have to do is press one button if you are on xbox, or on pc you can load up game bar and save the last 30 seconds. In most cases, even a screen shot will be enough! Then you can simply create a ticket when you have time later.

  • With the new season's system, there will always be a shutdown at the end of the season so new content can be loaded up. So fair warning, in three months' time we will be right back here.

  • @miserenz Not sure what this has to do with a thread on reporting players matey?

  • @sshteeve

    Well that is weird!

Is game bar preinstalled with the xbox client on PC? I will look into it at home because i didnt knew which windows tool could make a clip.

    So thank you!

  • @panguru3694 Yup, simply press the windows key + g and it should load up

  • if your playing via steam you basically cant report anyone unless you manually record your game, which i imagine less than 1% of people do

  • I do agree this game needs an in-game reporting system.

Rare is pretty lazy dealing with cheaters, and expects regular players to do the job/work for them by asking for evidence to ban people, rather than for them to review potential cheaters (Which a lot of games already do). I am more than happy to provide evidence if I had the chance to gather it, and its great you can provide it, but it shouldnt be necessary for a report.

As for people killing you... thats uh...part of the game my matey X). The other day someone told me "I am reporting you for harassment!" because I had been chasing them for 10 minutes, brandishing a reaper flag and trying to sink them. (And no I wasnt toxic nor did I insult them). A lot of people get camped on their ship because they are draining your supplies on to their ship. Thats an ingame feature that could probably get some tweaking to prevent people from being abused like that. You can already scuttle your ship to prevent them from doing that, but not only is it a bit hidden in the menus, but also a lot of times new players have no idea why are there 4 people on their solo sloop, refusing to sink it and just killing you every time you spawn. This is bad game design by rare.

As for insulting you...some people feel insulted if they get called "Noob". There's a level of banter that is acceptable, and there are of course levels of toxic words that should be reported. One problem for banning people for that (even with evidence) is that you can say horrible things to them to rile them up, you start the confrontation, and then you record only what they say back to you.

Thats why any report system should build up from multiple reports to see if a player is often accused of similar behaviour, have rare investigate/test the allegations and then ban. Cheating of course should be instaban if its proven even once.

  • Ahoy!

We hear you. We know you would like to see the reporting system streamlined and make it easier to provide evidence so we can take action as evidence is vital to moderation to prevent false reporting. Please, be aware that this is all on our radar.

In regards to recording footage. We understand people don't have software running all the time to do this. In case anyone isn't aware, there are several programmes available that will record your last 2-5mins of gameplay after it has occured. These include Nvidia Shadowplay and Windows itself using Windows+Alt+G, the 'Record That' Feature. OBS is also a good option if your PC has lower specs and you're worried about asking too much of it.

I would like to remind those baiting on this thread though that repeated actions performed for the sole purpose of ruining someone's game experience in order to force them to quit the game does break our community code of conduct and action can be taken against your account.

    Dropping anchor here.

    Thanks,
    j0toro
