Remove/reset flag when entering portal

Has anyone tested if broken flags go thorough?

I was just pvping with a ship who I am SURE had at least 2 flags (I saw them sink those people, and when I boarded them I saw the broken flags). They ran away thorough the portal and didnt drop any broken flags.
After I boarded them we were never even remotely close to the reaper. They had no rowboat, and they for sure didnt have time to row all the way from where we were to the reaper before they hopped.

They could possibly have just dropped them off somewhere in the middle of the sea with a pirate swimming away with them just out of spite. I am just curious if anyone has actually tried to go thorough with a broken flag?

Broken Flags are loot so the stay behind. This is why when an emissary goes through the portal their broken flag stays behind because the broken flag item is always inside the hull of ships so that when you sink an emissary, it floats up. Here when the whole ship vanishes through a portal, once again their grade 5 flag or whatever grade it is stays behind.

If I were headed to the portal, didn't have time to sell the flags, and knew I might be caught, I would of dumped them randomly in the sea. Likely they did as well. They do leave a copy of their own flag when they sail through the portal though.

Broken flags do not go through. Only supply crates.

  • I know they are considered loot.
Cannonballs are both loot and supplies yet they go thorough.
My question is if anyone has tried it.

    They had no flag themselves.

If they dumped them I would have seen the flags I was chasing them. Only way I wouldnt see them is if a sneaky pirate jumped off the front if their ship and swam under water to move it out of my sight as I chased them, which is indeed a posibility.

I also agree its likely they do get dropped. And I know people leave a copy of their flag I just havent particularly tested if other broken flags DO stay. Although it makes sense they would.
