As a very casual solo player, I don't tend to do a lot of the events in game like FotD because it just takes too long or I get mobbed by another player ship.
However, my first attempt at a FotD event resulted in the helmsman glitching half into the map meaning I wasted 50mins of my time completing it, only to lose the key in the void.!
I don't suppose I can get loot compensation can I?!

@sno-drag0n Sadly the devs don't give compensations to specific people only, they have to compensate the entire player base.
To add to d3adst1ck said, yes resetting the island is the only way to get the boss unstuck, but cannoning isn't the fastest way as you have to swim out of range from the title card and it doesn't notify you when you've done that.
The best way is to tell everyone in your crew to be in the ferry at the exact same time. This guarantees an island reset and if the island doesn't reset it means you have a tucker around.
@aribalam - appreciate the info. Good for future attempts. Not sure how often they go uncontested but, I was definitely annoyed about the situation.
